I was reading in the Bolt-on Tech about Amsoil, Someone asked if you can run the oil and filter for 1 year or 25k. You can run the fully synthetic oil for 1 year or 25k wich ever comes first, but the filter has to be changed at 12.5k when using there filter. They also recommend to use there flush when changing from conventional oil's to theres in higher mileage car's.

or 3,000 miles. I dont see the point in not investing in your lubrication system. Why would you want to risk your motor over an extra oil change or two?

I believe Amsoil also recommends that you send in a sample of oil for analysis periodically if you plan to run it that long.

Actually this is what they say about a turbo car (Wihout mods, with mods they say get an oil analysis every so often):

Severe Service(4) – Up to 15,000 miles or one year, whichever comes first.

(4) Turbo/supercharged vehicles, commercial or fleet vehicles, extensive engine idling, first and subsequent use of AMSOIL engine oil in vehicles with 100,000 miles or greater, daily short trip driving (less than 10 miles), frequent towing, plowing or hauling heavy loads and frequent driving in dusty conditions.

Yes that's their 0w30 severe duty oil. I am not that comfortable with putting that in my car and then heading out for a lapping event. I prefer the 10w30 0r 5w30 which recommends following the manufacturers oil change intervals. That oil is too light and may cause too low an oil pressure at idle......bad for turbo with a BB center section or full floating thrust bearing.

Because it has been shown that synthetic oils start to reach their max efficiency/best lubrication around 3000k. So the oil actually works better at 3000k plus than it did when it was new.

P.S. I think I was the person asking about AMSOIL the original poster referred to and have since discovered they recommend a 12,500 mile interval for turbocharged engines. I plan on doing this with some oil analysis to see what happens. Anyone else done this and have any test results?

I would not do it to my car, but I am curious to see results of others. It'd be nice to go that long without changing the oil if it is proven to be okay.

Which I don't get. Other than selling more overpriced filters, why change it? The longer it filters, the more efficient it gets as the element traps more whatever they think it might trap. Then again, if there's anything large enough getting into the oil that a filter will catch, it's coming from a motor that's rapidly dying anyway.

Read the bottle, sir.
If I'm not mistaken the Lucas bottle says right one it its is safe and mixes well with dino oil AND synthetic.

Your mileage may vary in regards to the results of using Lucas though. I'm running none right now and I get more tick at start up, but I'm noticing less phantom knock.
