So I just made a deal to purchase my first dsm. 1990 talon tsi awd with 100k, body, fame, interior, engine bay, strut towers are all beautiful on the car, not seen a winter either for $1,000. Problem is it needs the head rebuilt, all the exhaust valves are bent and came in contact with pistons, and little pieces here and there put together.
I'm planing on doing the job myself with a couple buddies. So on to my question. Am I on the right track with these parts? Is it weird I've had the repair manual about a year before I've owned the actual car?

-revised lifters
-arp headbolts
-quality head gasket
-valve springs and retainers
-valves
-valve guide
-2g pistons
-quality timing belt
-balance shaft eliminator kit
-taking the head to the shop to have the proper work done
-or would I be better off buying the frankenstein stage 1 head with arp headbolts, and 2g pistons, TB and BS eliminator kit?
Am I missing anything? Is there anything listed that I may not need? This is my first dsm and I wanna do the work the proper way. My plans for it are no more than stage one, but I want to make sure the engine is sound first.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
