aluminum oil pan for 7 bolt

Looks like a knock-off of the Moroso 6-bolt pan. If the quality is a good, why not. You have to watch out for some of that stuff, just be aware.

I'd stick with the stock oil pan. What if you need to do a timing belt job, or take off that motor mount bracket and support the motor with a jack? Do you think that aluminum would hold up? Just something to think about that nobody else has suggested.

There are much better ways to hold your engine up then putting a jack under the pan. For that price and if its quality I say go for it. This type of oil pan is great even for a stock engine. Helps keep oil temps down and even holds more oil I do believe. How can that be a bad thing?

OBX=Crap dont buy it, oem is awesome, unless you are a hard core dragger or autocrosser you dont need a oil pan like that.

its true, i purchased the OBX oil pan and it was crap. It didnt fit right at all and it wouldnt clear the #1 cylinders rod. Dont know why it wouldnt but it just wouldnt. I sent it back and orderd an oem oil pan and it fit perfectly. DONT BUY IT.

And how would u support the motor when you're doing a water pump or timing belt job? Cant have the motor mount bracket on to support the motor working around that area. Its perfectly fine to support the motor like that for a little bit while doing things like that. Dont leave it overnight and its fine. I did it, thats how most people do it. Just use a piece of wood and a towel folded over about 5 times.

If OBX is know for making crappy knock off parts that dont fit well and dont work well why is this thread even needed? You wont gain any performance from it and it may not work. I could think of a ton more ways to spend 250.00.

I know back when I was building my motor, I looked at oil pans. Back then only the moroso one was available. I almost ordered it when I researched it. And I found out ALOT of people were having sealing issues with it. A few guys lost motors due to them.... I would have shut down my car with an oil leak tho. Anyways if Moroso is having problems then i bet OBX will too.

stick with the stock one. there is no reason that you would need to "upgrade" to the obx pan. i havent heard anything about it but at the same time the stock one will be just fine

Having once worked at Moroso, the similarities to the Moroso oil pan are impressive (i.e. down to every detail ). Since it looks like a clone of the Moroso one, I assume it should be just fine as long as the welds are good and it fits it should be just fine (I've heard some things about fitment issues on various OBX parts from intakes to exhausts). At least with the Moroso pan I had on my old DSM there was a pretty good improvement from the reduced windage (crank and rods contacting the oil), and the added capacity is always good from a longetivity standpoint).

I have been searching for an aluminum 7-bolt oil pan and all i've found is an OBX for $250 for a 6-bolt, and the moroso which is $550, out of my price range. I searched google and all i came up with is useless garbage, i tried to check OBX's page and its down, does anyone know if OBX makes a 7-bolt oil pan, or if the 6-bolt one will work???

i don't know if OBX makes one cause i can't get on there site right now but i know for a fact that the 7 bolt oil pan won't work with the 6 bolt engine cause it has a slight dip in the front of the engine where the crankshaft pulley is

I bought the OBX Racing Oil Pan that is advertised in there catalog to fit 89-94 Eclipse 2.0L motors & It doesn't work just like he said it hits the Oil Pimp or the Oil Pump Pick up.

6 bolt motors were only from 90-92.5.

So do you mean it will not fit a 1g or specifically a 6 bolt motor?

DON'T BUY THE OBX RACING OIL PAN, I BOUGHT ONE FOR MY 1G ENGINE SWAP & IT DOESN'T FIT LIKE ADVERTISED, IT HITS THE OIL PUMP OR OIL PUMP PICK UP.

I WENT WITH A 1G OEM REPLACEMENT FROM SLOWBOYRACING.COM IT WAS $115 LOOKS GOOD & IS MADE OUT OF THICKER STEEL THAN THE OEM ONE BY MITSU.

It is only for 6 bolt engines. It wont fit any 7bolt from may of 1992 to present. The bottom of the oil pump housings on 7 bolt engines dips down at the oil pan rail where the 6 bolt is flat.
