Hey guys I just installed the Jays racing 1G alternator relocation kit.
I think I am retarded, but it looks as though the output shaft for the drivers CV axle needs to be bolted in the same spot the relocation kit is bolted. Do i need to get a longer bolt and than put in a spacer for the other one?
Let me know here...this is kinda starting to piss me off.
I want this ####ing thing done... I love the alternator in the back of the car and want to keep it there.

Just because its a 1g motor doesn't mean you use the 1g kit im pretty sure you need a 2g kit for a 2g car. :D

The kit looks identical 2g to 1g but i have the little square bracket that is for the 2g but that is only for the power steering pump. What am i doing wrong here?

The lower bracket simulates the spacing of the A/C bracket that you would use to properly mount the half shaft. You won't need a bolt longer than the factory one.

Also, the kits are not the same. The lower bracket may be the same, but the upright one is definitely different. Also, the 2G kit also comes with the power steering bracket and belt.

Ya I emailed the company, and yes it's the bottom bracket messing things up

K i got it, looks like i was able to use a longer bolt and it goes through both brackets and allows the other bolt hole of the bracket to sit flush against the block. it does not look to affect the output shaft angle so I am going to hope i'm in the clear here. Only one way to tell LOL...if she blows that outputshaft than I will make my assumptions.

FANTASTIC...so I put the alternator on and dumped hte motor in the car with 2 hours of bullshit to make it bolt up. The alternator is right up against the frame rail.....anyone else have clearance the frame rail for it to fit?

Why wouldn't you just buy the right kit?

The 1G kit uses the outer groove on the damper, which means the alternator sits further outward. And the 2G frame rail doesn't have the clearance for this, which is why two different kits exist. The 2G kit uses the inner groove and it clears the frame rail just fine. BUT, you'd need to move the power steering to the outer groove to allow the alternator to use the inner. And to do this, you'd need the power steering bracket that Jay sells - which is only included the in the 2G kit.

In a nutshell, Jay brought the 2G kit to the market to avoid all of the problems that you're running into now. Buy the right kit and be done with it.

I have the 2G kit right now 100%. It has the power steering pump bracket.

just thinking about it now, if I take the spacer out of the bottom bracket and swap to the other side of the bracket it should allow me to push the alternator over and use the inside pulley i think. I will try that tonight.

Instead of making a new thread I mine as well ask here. After looking at the instructions and mocking it up on the motor outside of the car I'm assuming you can't install everything outside of the car because you still need to bolt up the half shaft? If so this means I have to keep the Intake mani and coil bracket off until I install the alternator?

Slide the alternator in from the Throttle body side under the intake.

Then I should be good to go? Place the bottom bracket in between the halfshaft bracket and the engine.
