hi guys, well a few months ago i was having these weird stuttering problems. well my MBC took a crap on me, so i bought a hallman and set it up. i also changed the plugs and wires and at 9psi it pulls ok, well i turned it up to 12psi and it backfires :notgood:, im wondering what i should do, i have a logger BUT for some reason the logger isnt connecting to the computer so i can set up the program. and also the plugs and wires are Bosche. which i heard were no good for our cars. Mods: ported o2 housing and ported exhaust mani, MBC, KnN filter, 2.5 inch CatBack highflow cat, and a Ported 14b, before all this, i was boosting 17 psi no problem at all. but now i cant figure it out. please a little insight. thanks

mmm the BOV is a 1g recirculated and its connected to a Hard UICP, uhm ive tightened down all ic pipes and all clamps, and sprayed everything with carb cleaner to see if it idles funny but nope........

not to sure, this is the first time im using them because they ran outta ngk, its the 4 pronged Bosche

i would say its probaly your plugs, i ran bosch plugs for a day as soon as i hit like 14 psi stuttering backfiring all sorts of stuff. replaced with good old trusty ngk plugs and no more problems

i went to autozone today, and all they have is Iridiums at 14 $ a piece -_- i think i have to wait. but i will change them

Please use proper punctuation and caps in tech sections, you too boostcrazyawd.

Definitely get rid of the platinum plugs, they don't go with turbo charged vehicles. You want NGK BPR6ES gapped at .028".

Caps means capitalizing the beginning of your sentences, i's and where ever it may apply.

You should be able to find these in just about any parts store, I'm surprised AutoZone didn't have them, I suspect they're not looking at the right part numbers. If all else fail, most of our sponsor parts vendor carry them as well, here is an example.

I tossed a set of Bosches in once... a terrible mistake. Stuttering, poppy idle, all kinds of unpleasant crap. Switching to the proper NGK BPR6ES made all the problems go away. Our cars don't dislike, they actively hate and reject Bosch plugs.

You can pick up NGK BPR6ES or BPR6EY at Autozone, they're either $1.50 or $2 a pop. Only difference between the two is that the electrode on the EY has a groove down the middle to play off the 'splitfire' multi-contact-point fad. It's pointless, and gives you a variable spark gap, with shorter plug life. Only minor idle stumbling noted so far, I'm going to be switching back to the ES on my next spark change. You can also ask for Denso plugs, as IIRC they're the parent company of NGK (or vice-versa, it's one of the two, but all the same part) if it's just the Autozone staff not knowing what they're doing... which is pretty likely, considering how much the average AutoZombie actually knows about cars and parts.

Also, I've always heard never to use Iridium plugs with a turbocharged application, but no one has explained exactly why. Anyone actually know? The only reasons I've been able to come up with is because they're at a higher heat range (more prone to knock), tend to foul easily, and only last about three times longer than standard copper cores while they cost over seven times as much money. Which... is enough reasons not to use them, really. :D

I know the guys at Autozone and they are also racers from the local meets. He checked and all they had were bosche platinums or the Iridiums. So i went to Ac Delco and bought Denso Plugs.

Generally don't want to talk about the first part of that stuff here, GSX, as it's verboten with an iron fist.

In any case, tossed the Densos in yet? Fix the problem? And which type did you grab?

I have put in the Denso's, and problems solved. thanks guys. The ones i bought were just stock plugs :thumb:
