hey guys, first off im not stupid i know its oil but heres where its weird and some input would be really helpful.
To fill you guys in I just finished a pretty much stock rebuild about a month ago, i drove the car down the street and back like 2 or 3 times with no downpipe just open o2 housing trying to work out the kinks and which hoses i forgot to hook up ect... and there was very little smoke which i figured was just the assembly lube and whatnot. now i hooked up the downpipe (that has a hole in the flex pipe thats getting fixed on monday) and i drove it down the block after it sitting for maybe a week or 2 and my whole block is a blue cloud... anybody have any ideas? its a 95 gst i have the boost controller set to around 10 pounds which also sounds a little weird almost like the bov is leaking but I'll deal with that on a later date. Thanks for looking and sorry theres so much writing.

95 gst, 98 motor, lower compression pistons, fmic 16g, regular 5w30 motor oil not syn, and lmk if theres anything else that would affect it.

i was worrying about the turbo, it came with the car so i dont know about the history (especially because it got pulled off a blown motor, is there any easy way to check if thats it? and i think i am running rich, how off would it have to be to cause that much smoke? and i only base that I'm running rich off of the fact that the boost is turned down so... thanx bro

Pull the intake pipe off and check for shaft play. If it's moving around an excessive amount or the blades can touch the housing then the turbo is going out. You can also pull off the tubo to see if the exhaust inlet has oil on it which would indicate leaking engine or if just the turbine exit has oil (oil seals).

Turbos are very easy to rebuild assuming you have the proper tools on hand.

You also do NOT need to send it out to get balanced as long as the wheels are not damaged and if you are sure to scribe/mark the orientation of the shaft, lock nut, and compressor wheel.

If you don't want to rebuild it yourself, send it off to Justin (JusMX141)

you said the old engine blew, how did it go? also how long has the exhaust been hooked up and ran on the new engine?

the down pipe/exhaust may just be buring off old oil from the oild engine if it has been run 30 mins or less at one time

the car came with a ported motor LOL (the kid blew a rod out the side of the block) I'm using that turbo, and i didnt run the car for more than 15 minutes at a time since i started it... thanx a lot for the input on the turbo rebuild liquid, The car is boosting fine though, could the turbo still be on its way out?

Agree. Its unburnt oil trapped in the exhaust. Similar to fixing a car with a blown headgasket. Once its fixed they can smoke for a good hour before all the coolant is burned out the exhaust.

To the OP. Make sure everything is put together 100 percent. Take the car out and do some short 2nd gear wot pulls. This should clear it right up.

My E316G boosts great still all they way up to 25psi but the turbo is leaking oil out the seals. It's only due time that it will destroy itself and that's why I'm going to be rebuilding mine once I get a kit in.

You need to check for shaft play. If you have ANY lateral (in and out) movement then it needs a rebuild for sure. Side to side if fine if it's a small amount as all turbos will have a little side to side. If the wheel can touch the housing regardless of pressure it takes to do it, it need a rebuild.

yea the downpipe also came off the blown motor so im hopeing that its just covered in oil and it just needs to be run, keep your fingers crossed for me! Thanks again guys and anyone know where to get a kit like liquid showed me for future refrence?

+1 for above kit.

That's the one I'll be picking up once he get's his stock back. Sent him an email yesterday and should have my next week hopefully.

That's also the one I used on my last rebuild.
