Ok bought a 96 gs spyder had a 2.4l sohc head. Just bought a 2.0 Dohc. Was going to turbo but decided too many problems as this will be my DD in the summer only! Would like to push At least 300 WHP. Need ideas for the head parts for now building one thing at a time. I have looked in to kiggly behive springs and 280 cams is this a g9od.start or not? If you could list parts below that would help me get this.goal and links please do thanks.

Hell, if I could just drop 50k at the wink of an eye id have a gtr or a supra in the stable... not a fwd dsm...

Not to offend any dsm owners, but come on... who wouldnt...

In all honesty ive been reading this thread from day one and it gets more far fetched every day. I bet 1/4 of anything said in this thread never happens and a stock motor gets put in so the car can get sold as runner instead of a shell... just sayin.

I guess we will just see about that. Hope to prove you wrong and you have no faith what so ever :notgood:

Spyder Sean, do your research first before posting. Not trying to be argumentive, but you will gain more respect and get morehelp when you do this. I've been a member here for over a year, and just ordered everything to start my first ever forged engine build. I chose eagle h beam rods because they've been proven to over 800 HP, and can take a beating from a daily driven car. I chose wisecos for the same reason. These decisions came from researching the components and looking at others builds, based off what goals I have for my own car.

I have done research that's how I found out about the eagle rod h beams. And how everything needs to be forged. And. Few other things that work well on my motor. This thread was only posted so I could get people too tell me what works and doesn't but it has gone back and fourth between some dumb stuff.

You could just buy a awd shell they go for 800-2000 . and buy a magnus built and proven monster engine for another 4,500-6,500. find a tuner and call it a day. you're going to spend too much on this car to , then try and make it awd. .. just because you have money doesn't mean you should waste it.

Ask any soldier :" slow is smooth, and smooth is fast." meaning, take the path of least resistance, and your on this site looking for guidance and advice. The crowd has spoken ! these guys didn't find their knowledge in the bottom of a cereal box. Listen to them.

But bro, bro.... bro.....

Its all about the build, no matter how ridiculous it sounds... LOL :thumb:

I guess the last question would be. If youve got all this $ to burn and knowledge of how to make monster hp in a car... why did you grab such a crappy platform to start up a 700hp build.... 4g64, fwd, the cars probably older than you, and its fwd... with a 4g64...

Maybe you should do something unique that not many people have done, just do a rwd conversion. Since its wild and out there like everything else in this........

This thread really turned, um, weird.

Sean, all things aside, and i didnt read every last post but if you are getting or have received 50k good for you. Now IMO you should spend the money responsibly. You can get what you want, for under 10k probably.

I think you just need to go through slot of threads on here and get some ideas. Or, if youre ready to throw money around, call up one of the vendors and tell them your goals. They would be more than happy to tell you exactly what you need to get 600whp and even happier to sell it to you!! LOL.

Also, fwd or awd, you can have the same hp. In fact the whp and curb weight will favor the FWD car ..... buuuuuuut, ya gotta think of putting that hp to the ground. A whole lot easier with awd. And this is coming from a fwd guy.
Just do your homework before you drop a dime. With that money it may be wiser to find a nice awd shell(or fully functioning/driving awd for that matter)..... ever think of that?

Are those prices a shop is actually charging you, or just estimated prices from calling around? Either way, the crank work seems cheap and the block resurface seems expensive (unless their decking for MLS head gasket).

Just keep in mind the crank may need to be cut, and I'd highly suggest having the shop pull the crank's oil galley plugs and scrubbing the journals. I'd also suggest having the block inspected and bored before ordering any parts. The 4g64 can only be bored .5mm larger, and even that is pushing it. The shop should also be using a torque plate when boring, which might require you to purchase head studs.

That's actually from the local machine shop had him write it up. I'm going to purchase my eagle h beams tomorrow after I get paid. And it's just a start so far. While I waiting thinking on relocating the battery under the fender.

I personally don't even know much about what I'm haveing him doo. Iv seen a bunch of post of people doing this and some people.telling me its a good idea. As for the parts buying one thing at a time man no need to blow 10k on a bunch of shit I don't need. So im buying my rods and pistons first. Any recommendations on pistons? Seen a bunch but it looks more like a personal preference I know ill need forged and BCE I don't know anything about turboing do I need to run 8.5 compression or could I bump it up to 9.1 will it have much a difference or what will happen

Im confused at first we had 50k to throw at this build now we are waiting on paychecks. WTF But if you are going high boost you want low compression 8.5 if you want to use a smaller turbo with low boost and almost instant reasponds use 9.1. that's up to you but 8.5 pistons I would venture to say will take you farther than 9.1 .As far as brand goes wisco is a very good piston for the price if you are going to pull no stops je pistons i really don't think there is much difference in quality.

Glad you bring up my money. I have it set up so I can recieve 1673.87 for the next 20 years. I'm young and I would spend it all. That and I have college bills house bills and am few others. Plus the biggiest bill my girlfriend LOL. But ya I seen a thread on the je pistons probably buy those next week. But hey thank you guys for helping me. When I get the motor all done I will Deffinitly need your help for the turbo stuff cause to be honest idk nothing about it.

Ok thismismthe only one I can get for my motor but my bore in my block is 86.5mm so what should I do boys different pistons or larger bore

showing wisdom and control with money... Nice, Sean. I like the plan bud.

AFA your question of compression, plenty of guys run 9:1.
Will you want to run straight 93pump gas, or do you have access to e85?
