i live in wisconsin and since its cold here in the winter, my washer fluid always freezes. i was wondering if running straight alcohol in there would work without destroying any parts, because it gets really annoying to stop at a gas station to clean my windows when they get salty.

Washer fluid shouldn't freeze. Splurge and b
uy the 2.99 stuff that is good to -50. I got it all the time in Iowa and never had a problem. Just make sure your nozzles aren't clogged.

Yea, I bought the same stuff that 95BlacKGSTurbo bought and have never had problems. I filled up my system with the stuff about 2 winters ago and haven't had a problem since. I've never had anything freeze up on me.

I've only lived here 3 weeks. I lived in Iowa for 20 years before this so I know what happens when it gets cold.

You can put alcohol in the resevoir and run the hoses into the car so when you can't see you have a tap for some jack daniels that will warm you right up while you let your defrost warm up.

Blue washer fluid is about half alcohol. It won't hurt the washer system.
thank you for answering the question.

i took out the frozen hunk of blue ice last night and thawed it out, i couldnt find the rain-x stuff so i replaced the fluid with the yellow prestone de-icer fluid b/c the store that carries the alcohol was closed. the yellow stuff is supposed to be good to -25*

my friend has a s10 and she did that with her car, she wired the hoses into the dash and she had vodka! it was pretty cool but if she drove around it got warm. =)

i live in North Dakota (we have insane winters-alot worse than iowa i am sure.) i have a 1g and i use that orange stuff it was -48 last night and it worked fine this morning. =)

I've never had any problems with the blue stuff freezing in MN or MT winters, but I suppose it can happen. I have yet to try my new bottle, but my friend swears by "volcano juice." I think you just add it to regular fluid.

It won't help keep it from freezing, but you can also put a metal coil/tube around a heater hose and superheat the stuff before it hits the nozels. Cooks ice right off! :thumb: (it will also cook off rain-x if you use it)

hey im in WI too and my blue stuff also froze :( then again i forgot my line is T'ed off to spray the intercooler aswell so i had some ice hanging from the IC

if only... :sosad: i wish i could move somewhere warm like california or arizona.

Bah, those places have their downfalls just as well. Try passing emissions w/ a highly modified street car with no hassels, for instance.

I don't think Arizona has anything emissions I saw a Supra (it's the fastest Supra in AZ it runs in like the 9's and is street legal and runs 52 PSI) on Sports Compact Car that is from Arizona. Florida has no state inspections but that have things like hurricanes. What about Texas, or Nevada , anyone?

:dsm:

trust me FL isnt that great either... a damn tree fell on my car during the last hurricane  (thats why i have a DSM now :thumb: ) but still i miss my turbo'd prelude.
