2G Aftermarket Keyless Entry Install?

I search and went through all 5 threads that came up. If I missed one, my bad.



Has anyone installed an aftermarket keyless entry setup?

Just looking for opinions and advice on the idea.

Is there a problem with your factory keyless entry, or do you just want more range out of your keyless system?

A big part of my job is to do things like keyless entry, alarms, and remote starts, so I'm a little biased when I say you should do it. Just do it correctly, or have it professionally done.

I personally put Directed Electronics Inc. products above the other options out there (Clifford, Viper, Automate, Python). That being said, stay FAR away from any keyless, alarm, or remote start you can buy on a shelf. Even if it is under the DEI umbrella. I know they say that you can install it yourself, but they're complicated systems with horrible instructions. I've installed plenty of these over the 4 years I've been installing, and half the time, they don't work right out of the box.

Audiovox isn't all to terrible either. Their Pursuit line is good, too.

Awesome information. Ill be studying this to see if I should even tackle a keyless entry install.
