Aftermarket front crossmember?

The threads that go into the front crossmember from the frount mount is messed up. Everytime time I tighten the bolt it gets tight to a certain point then it pops and backs off a couple of turns and then I have to repeat again. Basically it never tightens. Rather than taking the crossmember off and re tapping it, does anyone know a company that makes a aftermarket crossmember (tube or not)? Mounts are avid mounts (which were a pain to install)

The two north and south bars can actually be removed if you want to. If you do canyon or road race stuff i wouldnt do it personally but alot of guys with street and drag cars do remove them. The quick fix for your problem would be using a longer bolt with a nut on top.

When I bought my 98 GST the front crossmember was bent (told me he hit a curb). I called Mitsubishi and they wanted like $400 for one... not including install which they said would take like 5 hours or so.
I found on on ebaymotors and paid $90 for a used one and like $30 for shipping.

If you can replace it yourself I would check there for a used one.

Have you not seen this thread http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/custom-fabrication/383215-new-3-pc-crossmember-input-needed.html? It has a solid front mount so you can't use your shiny new avid mounts but it's something to consider. Good luck!

I will def. look into those. I wonder by having avid mounts all around and then the solid front one will it cause any problems?

Nah it won't cause any problems. I have poly mounts with the Paul Volk (99gstracer) crossmember with the solid rollstop (front mount) and if anything I think it is smoother with less vibration than before I had it.
