Does anybody have a DIY on removing the front crossmember for 2g turbo? I know you have to remove the lower control arms support bar. How many other bolts does the crossmember have? Do I have to remove any steering parts? Thanks.

What part are you talking about. the crossmember is the piece that is attached to the front motor mount/roll stop. and theres 2 bolts up front and 5 in the back plus the motor mount.

if your asking about the front subframe, that a whole other story

theres 6 bolts holding it up. you have the disconnect the steering colum from the rack itself and the lower lateral control arms as well

I mean the front subframe. I've never dealt with the steering stuff. Is it hard to remove the steering stuff?

Well i removed mine but only aftyer there was no motor or trans in the car. if the motor and trans are in it will be alot more work. PS lines have to come off rear motor mount as well. theres no tricks it pretty easy, it will just take time. can i ask why you want to remove it?

I've got broken studs in it from the lower control arm. I'm thinking about buying a new front subframe so I don't ever have to deal with rust again. They're not too expensive either. Hopefully it's not too hard to remove when I attempt it.
