aftermarket cam gears on stock cams

Can you put aftermarket cam gears on stock cams and feel a difference?

i read somewhere on the forums that was dyno proven if you retard the gears to 3 degrees with those aem cam gears your able to free up some horsepower i may be wrong but someone correct me if im wrong i may of read it wrong

you can, but the cost of the gears, plus dyno time to get the most out of them usually outweighs the few horses you can pick up. If you don't do the work yourself, you're probably looking at around 1k after gears, labor for install and dyno time. Even if you install them yourself, it's still not really worth the time and money for the bit of power they provide.

I second what cs82685 says, I would invest money in cams themselves because you can gain more power right off the bat for around or a little more than the price of the cams.

money could be spent better else where, but if you are going to go to an aftermarket cam and find a good deal it might be a good idea to pick it up

Go at least to a stage 2 cam, because a stage 1 really isn't worth it, the gains aren't as noticeable.

Crower stage 2, best cam, but pricey

Crane stage 2 cams, still good quality, a lil less money.

I"m gonna be putting some aftermarket cam gears on my stock cams, just because my stock cam gears are looking pretty bad, kind of rickety, and I got an awesome deal on the new ones.
