After much lobbying...Electric Cutout DP

After some initial conversation, this thread, and much lobbying for one, QTP has announced the development of an electic cutout downpipe. They are pricey and the release date is TBA. I just thought I'd update that RNR is not making them in case someone was looking for them. I'll keep you guys updated when I get more info. No I don't work for QTP, this is not an ad. Initially QTP rejected the idea. If the DP's are released for the same price as the others, it will be cheaper to buy a DP, the QTP kit (189.99) and have a shop put them together for you.

If its as much as you say it might be, noone will buy it. I highly doubt it will make it in THIS community being high priced. But it is good that someone is finally making it.

Some people might buy it I mean look at some of the stuff people pay for, there are still those out there they are buying the B&M shifter (160$) instead of the ebay clone (40$) . A downpipe with the built in cutout might be good for those that don't want to mess with a complete exhaust, especialy in places that have problems with cops monitoring the sound levels (they dont care in Oklahoma ). I personally want a full exhaust cuz I dont have to have to tune for two settings, open cutout and closed cutout because there IS a difference. anyways I think it is a good product for some just not for me :thumbdown

For me the idea is really to run open all the time, except when pulled over, at a stoplight with a cop, pulling through a neighborhead at night or past a graveyard so I don't wake the dead with an open downpipe, etc.

I would buy one, I hope I have the money when they come out... and I hope it is big enough to support future upgrades If its anywhere less than $500, its still a deal because you wont have to buy a catback. Plus you could LOOK 100% stock.

I'm doing the 3" Downpipe with Electric cutout. Because it is best of both worls, stock, and then wide open no restrictions.

Local shop quoted me this...

"389 for a custom 3" mild steel downpipe with the electronic cutout including install of the exhaust and switch in your cabin for the cutout. Add 50 bucks for stainless steel (y pipe will still be coated mild steel)."

I still haven't decided to buy one of the Hybrid Connections (local shop) pie cut tubular O2 housing or to port the stock housing as I am on stock T25 still for a while too I figure.

But at the same time, I could likely piece together everything cheaper. 3" SS madrel bend DP off Ebay for $100 or so, the full cutout is $189, and just get someone to weld, which is what I'll go with likely because it's so much cheaper..
