I really like the idea of an electric cutout/straightpipe kinda deal... But when discussing with my friend he brought up an interesting idea..
Could the flames from my turbo backfire be a problem? Since the cutout is right before my res?

Also if that is a problem.. Could I extend the cutout a little further to be out of damaging spots.... Or will the flames also disrupt the Electric part of the cutout??

Any information is helpful, Thanks

where is your cutout located? Is your talon Turbo?

I welded on V-band clamps onto my cutout and it bolts right onto the downpipe. It sort of replaces the catalytic converter. I have it hooked up to a remote control switch on my keychain. :thumb::rocks:

Yes, my talon is turbo.

That sounds awesome, do u think I'll shoot flames :/

Is that why you want a cut out?

I have my wastegate dump tube routed to dump out of my bumper. If you look at my profile pics, you may be able to see it on the driverside. That will shoot flames during anti-lag and launching......

[no I want straightpipes for the sound and I want the cutout to be able to control it like late at night and stuff... I don't want to shoot flames but I'm Saying if I do will it be dangerous?

I doubt you'll shoot flames, I have straight pipes on my SRT8 with e-cutouts (Running a KB 2.8 @ 19lbs) and I have no flames, at least no one has ever told me if I have them when going WOT.

I like the idea of an e-cutout on the Laser pre cat (@ the down pipe) so I can keep it quiet until I flip the switch.

I run a cut-out on my 2G approximately 20-24" after the turbo. It will pop a small flame in certain conditions of deceleration after a wot pull, but that's about it. Antilag would make flames too, but that's another story. Under normal conditions, you wont see 'fire' exiting the cut-out, and even if some does, it won't pose as a problem.

PS - I love my cut-out. :) Now that I'm used to having one, I'll probably never go without one.

^^ Your cutout is about 2feet after the turbo, so its basically after the bend of the down pipe? Where do you have the exhaust exiting to? Just under the car or do you have a pipe that extends to the side?

I was going to put one in as well (i was just going to buy a 3" downpipe and then the 3" cutout right after) and leave the rest of the exhaust. (catless already) That way it will still be quiet and i can run it open and it will preform way better.

My turbo is mounted up high, so 2 ft after the turbo puts the cutout down toward the ground and right in front of the oil pan. I have the cut-out exhaust exiting out the side of the bumper.

I had a QTP cutout and the digital controller but ditched that for a custom TIGed Thermal R&D setup. The only reason I got rid of it was to save weight and you could see it under my car if I drove by. I had it mounted just before the cat / test pipe.

It would shoot fire during antilag and no lift shifting.

Thanks guys
Why do u guys have cutouts??? Just to make sure I understand the concept.

I open the cutout when I race usually. I figure it might help with spool. I'm running a pretty large T4 framed turbo on my car, and its a daily driver. Also, it sounds awesome and its louder than anything I've ever heard. Altho, even without the cutout, my car is still super loud. haha

I only open the e-cutouts @ the track or when I'm fooling around (when a car comes up and does the rev limit thing or does the blow off valve salute I open 'em up rev and they leave me alone).

I love the sound too so it's a win win, performance with noise haha. :)

Exactly what I was thinking >=)
Paul what kind of turbo do you have?

Eclipse, Paul has a compound turbo set up, he is running a 60-1 and a big 16g (i 90% positive on this one).

Im guessing your car is stock, since you have nothing filled out in your profile. If so, you should look into some regular upgrades first before a cutout. Look up the Tech guide build paths.

And remember, the search function on this website is your best friend.

Yeah, same here. I'll pull into a parking lot all quiet-like, then I'll leave with the cut-out open just cruising out slowly, people are like WTF? haha

I once raced this guy who had a super loud big block supercharged Nova. When I was 2-stepping with the cut-out open, I couldnt hear him at all. He told me my car drowned his out completely. :hellyeah:

I actually dont have my car yet.. Im hoping to get a GSX in October.. If not ill get a GST, what do you recommend to get before the cutout?
