GSX/GS-T Electric Cutout question!!

I really like the idea of an electric cutout/straightpipe kinda deal... But when discussing with my friend he brought up an interesting idea..
Could the flames from my turbo backfire be a problem? Since the cutout is right before my res?

Also if that is a problem.. Could I extend the cutout a little further to be out of damaging spots.... Or will the flames also disrupt the Electric part of the cutout??

'99 Gsx- quick walkaround with cutout open - Car Videos on StreetFire
This is a video of my car back when it was running. At the start you can see where I put my e-cutout. But it's on a Gsx. After the 3" dp, it was just a straight 3" pipe w/ no cat and the only bend behind the dp was the turn to the muffler. With the cutout open it was just a straight path out.
