After how many miles does CrankWalk usually occur

Is there a specific milage point when Crankwalk starts to occur or is it completly random???

It's a progessive chance. A stock 2g DSM with 0 miles on it isn't going to crankwalk at all anytime soon. Whereas one with 100,000 might start to show symptoms, and one at 200,000 is full blown.

Based on mileage it gets a better chance to walk, but there's no real "crankwalk line" that I've seen or heard of.

i'd have to concur on that one, just from reading the boards, the prime time for it is 60-80k

I have heard that the higher the milage the less of a chance it is going to happen. But no one can really tell.

correct me if im wrong but crank walk is when your crankshaft gains endplay (side to side movement). i dont know how severe this gets though. can anybody give me some #'s? i was told a while back that crank walk is more common with the 7 bolt flywheel 2g engines rather than the 6 bolt's. is this true?

From what I have seen baced on information on dsmtalk and here it seems much more likely to have CW in the 30-60k range then it is as you go up in miles. I dont recall ever seeing someone post about CW with 150+ miles on their engine.

I am fairly sure that if you are going to develop CW then it will happen in the first few years or it never will. Some things can offset this such as super heavy clutches and poor upkeep with oil changes.
