Afr and knock are they related?

dude, if your not willing to tune your car so that your idc's are below 100%, fine, but DON'T ask us why you can't run 16.5 psi because everyone says THEORETICALLY you can run that. You probably have a boost leak or something, but either way, DON'T run your car hard when the idc's go above 100%

and the knock at lower rpms is most likely phantom knock. It is caused by the lifters ticking or something else like that, it doesn't really matter that your getting phantom knock as that won't effect your higher rpm knock whatsoever. If your getting knock in higher rpms, YOUR TUNE IS OFF, or something is wrong with your car, AND YOU SHOULD CHANGE IT UNTIL IT STOPS KNOCKING.

I understand that knock is bad. Why do you think I asked about the bigger injectors??
 
I noticed a few things in here. Everything I have been told is that you want to run your injectors around 86% d.c. (iirc 85-90 is pretty safe anything over will burn them up) Get 550s and a 2g mass and then run the afc. Its tried and true and runs flawless. I guess if you wanna be the cool guy with a loud bov then learn how to tune with the maft.

Also yes I agree the motor should be fine after a 30+ count knock spike but you might wanna do a comp test depending on how old the motor is and how long you beat on it under those conditions.

Compression is the same as when I bought the car. !50-151-149-152. I know the motor is fine for now. I like the vented bov too. Might be to much rice for some people on here but to each his own. I might have a line on a cheap set of 650's. I will try those out with just the maft and see how good of a tune I can get. I really dont want to buy another afc(I used one on my 420a 2g) because it seems like the afc and the maft doo the same thing. I want to eventually run dsmlink so the afc would be a waste of money. If The maft wont run the 650's right then I will go back to the stockers and run 12 psi till I can afford dsmlink. I was just wondering if anybody has tried to run the maft with bigger injectors without an afc. It would be nice to see the results before I try it.
 
I ran 650's with the MAFT. The car ran alright, but I couldn't tune out all the knock. On the other hand the whole setup was shit (boost leaks, exhaust leaks) and I didn't get to go all the way with the tune before the car got burned down. I also didn't have a wideband, that would have helped a LOT.

The interesting thing was that I'd get knock if I was a click or two too rich, or too lean. I was using the WOT finetuning mode on the MAFT. I believe the 650's would have worked fine with the MAFT if I had the time to work out the bugs.

Thank you for your help. What other fuel mods did you do, pump ect...
 
I had a 3000gt fuel pump (190lph?) and a B&M fpr with slightly raised fuel pressure (not sure what pressure exactly). Somehow I was getting to 100%IDC with the t04b v-trim and I only made 235 to the wheels. But as I said my setup was shit, and not running right. I was even running on the stock exhaust and cat :) I think that day at the dyno was particularly bad, cause I wasn't seeing even close to the airflow I was seeing on better days.
