ok i had posted on here before about what FPR i need. so i bought the aeromotive FPR kit that is advertised on this site. well i installed it, followed all the directions, double check, even triple checked everything, well i set the base fuel pressure at 38 with the vacuum line disconnected and plugged, well i took it for a spin and as soon as i hit boost at 5k rpms my car starts backfiring like crazy. its not fuel cut because i know what that feels like, and so i turned up the FPR to 43 and again once i hit 5k rpms it backfired like crazy again. i havent looked at my spark plugs but it kinda feels like a faulty plug. do you think my plugs went out right when i happened to install my FPR or is there a problem i might be missing here?

so did buying bigger injectors fix your problem? im actually looking into buying a data logger so i guess that will be a good way to tell. i just assumed it was a weak pump since i cant hear it most of the time and its suppose to be loud

I have yet to get bigger injectors because I'm working on figuring out some very weird electrical problems. I guess I should go ahead and get them since I just got paid. I ordered a 255 HP pump but I also don't hear the very annoying whining everyone else talks about.

have you installed the rewire kit? my buddy has the same pump on his 2nd gen and its really loud. you can hear the very distinct hum over his exhaust even

No rewire yet. I just wanted to get my car back out on the road ;) . Back to your problem though. I would try to borrow a logger or something or get one ASAP to see whats up. Until then turn down the boost or don't push it.

right on, as far as a logger goes. it reads out all the information on the palm pilot right? or do you just save it to the pilot and have to hook it up to a computer. im confused as to whether you can monitor your car right then and there or if it just retains the information so it can be transfered to a computer.. sorry i am such a new guy to all of this

I must admit i did not read all the reply's just some so i hope I'm not repeating anyone.
1.set to stock fp
2. boost leek test
3.spark plug's
4. pull negative battery terminal to reset your fuel map

No problem man, you have to start somewhere. The logger shows you all of the information the ECU is recieving and you can monitor that whenever the car is running. Once you do a log, it saves it and then you can use software to view it on the computer or look at it through the palm. I got my logger cable and software from www.pocketlogger.com and am very satisfied with how it has worked for me. If you don't want to buy from them, it is atleast a good place to learn about loggers. :thumb:

Forc Fed TSI this is a little off from what everyone else is telling you, but it is worth a shot. Check your ignition module beneath the stock FPR. Take connecter off and inspect pins. My car had a similar problem that you are describing. I had a lot of corrosion build up. Cleaned out and everything worked fine.

i replaced my idle screw. or biss screw.. and now i cant get my idle to go lower than 1300rpms and its surging all the time. it used to only do it when it was cold does anyone know what can be the problem? i heard the isc or ics is really expensive( the idle speed controller) but heard it could be the problem
