Ok so heres the deal, I hooked up my SAFC I was sure everything was correct. I get RPM readings, TP readings, the whole nine yards. Now my problem is when I change the pressure and/or flap settings or the low-thrust or high thrust nothing happens to the car when it is running. It is running very crappy and idles at about 5 or 600 rpm. I switched the white wire with the yellow wire for the MAS on the ecu and had the same problem still. What "Pin out" is the right one that i have to cut to instal the white and yellow wires?

PS when the car was on my stock boost gauge was no longer functional. I used pin 90.

Can anyone help me out and tell me what I did wrong?

I used that and it stopped my stock boost gauge from working and when i tried to adjust the pressure setting and flap and hi and low thrust it didnt even make the rpm change a tiny bit...stayed at 600ish and ran very rich.

It sounds like you are adjusting the wrong settings. Go through and write down what you have everyting set at and post it. That will give us a better idea of how to help you. If you could also verify that your wiring is correct that would be very helpful as well.

The afc is new. I just set it to 4 cylinder with the arrow point up and to the right. I still dont understand why the stock boost gauge would stop working when I cut the wire in Pin 90 to hook up the white and the yellow from the AFC. When I had an AFC in my neon as soon as I changed the pressure or flap or anything the car would just die. Now when i do the same thing in my talon nothin happens at all and the CEL comes on when the car is running for about 2 mins or so.

Ok new idea, instead of me wasting all this time with the Pin outs where under the hood can I hook the white and yellow AFC wires?I would assume it is on the mas air flow sensor but which wire do i cut to ties these two in? And for the Blue 02 wire on the afc which wire do I splice into on my front 02 sensor to get the reading? Thanks for the help :talon: :thumb:

Exactly what style AFC are you installing? The original style with the dip switches, or an APEXI AFC I or II blue screen unit?

If you are using a blue screen unit the airflow wires on the AFC are Pink and Orange, not white and yellow. Make sure you are folowing the right installlation guide.

Using the ECU pinouts is really the best way to wire it in and you shouldn't have any problems if it is done correctly.

You are cutting the airflow wire and "re-routing" the signal through the AFC right?

Please straighten up the confusion between which AFC style you are using. I think you are using the dip switch guide for the blue screen unit.

Sorry for the cunfusion. It is an APEXi SAFC II. Does that mean that I have to use the Pink and orange?

Ok, I hooked up the Pink and Orange wires from the ECU and it is still running like crap. I swithced them and the same thing happened. For the ground, I have the black and brown twisted together then spliced them in as one. Would that effect the AFC this much and make it run bad? Also I dont think that Pin 90 is the correct one for me to tap into, because everytime I hook up to that my stock boost gauge shuts off. This Sh!t is sooo confusing!!! :talon:

Looking at the diagram you are most likely tapping pin 16 on the wrong plug of the ECU. Pin 90 is on the complete other side of the ECU it is on the 22 pin plug of the ECU bottom row 3rd one in from the right.

I would do the ground like the install suggests, I'm sure its like that for a reason and says damage may be done without it wired that way.

When routing the airflow wire the pink wire goes to the ECU, the Orange wire goes the the car harness.

Hope this helps.

Have you reset your battery since you played with karman flap and pressure . If you have not it has thrown a engine code on the mass air flow sensor thats why your check engine light is on . Un hook you battery cables put it back on . Then set all your super afc correction points to 0 all the way across go to ETC and make sure it is set to karman on the type of sensors . Then see if it will start and run normal.

WOW!!!! I finally got it figured out. Turns out that my ecu must be from a newer dsm. Instead of using the diagram for the m3a I used the one for the m3b and it works great. The pressure wire was the next pin down from the tach wire.

Now I just have one final question. The knock setting, what is a good number to try to stay around that I am safe? between 190 and 215? That is what mine is varying between now.
