Aem WB gauge not reading the same in dsm link !

hey guys i have just hooked up my AEM wb 0-5v output wire to pin 75 rear o2 and in link it will read 11.0-11.5 when my gauge will read 14.6-14.7 which seams right at idle . so whats up with link ?

Now i had to adjust mine slighly to compensate for the translation within the ECU but it wasn't that far off...

i'll agree with nightracer mine might of been a bit off due to the stream speed of the dsmlink but it was never that far off. Its been awhile since i ran link but there is more than one listing under AEM wideband sensors shit liek the R1, aemgauge ....like i said just going from memory maybe try selecting one of those other options and see if it changes anything

AEM UEGO puts out a different AFR on it's gauge than it does on it's loggable output.... this is a known issue w/UEGO.

done a log this morning and seems to read better than the gauge it will read as high as 18:00 and as low as 10.6 !

Yeah, I don;t think the 2g sees the same issue as us 1g folks running it on EGR or BARO inputs.

it could even be the slight delay from the gauge to the dsmlink i am gonna be tuning a link car soon with an AEM wideband so i'll let you know the results

Not really much you can do about it for the AEM unit.

This is because there is always going to be a voltage offset. The voltage the gauge sees is going to be different than what the ECU sees. Because the resistence in each is different and is not 0 on either one. The only problem with the AEM unit is that it's not programmable, so you cannot eliminate the offset. This is why I swapped to Innovate's LC-1. I sold my AEM for $200 and bought the LC-1 for $205 shipped.

Thats kinda what I was thinking. Maybe try to redo the wiring and make it as short as possible, use good wire?

Also, what is AEMWBGauge and AEMWBGaugeR1? R1 is the only one that works at all for me. I've heard of other people using the dynojet one for the AEM gauge, but that one is wayy off for me.

I really don't think rewiring it is going to help.

Once I experienced the problem I then couldn't understand why the AEM is so popular. There are much better units for the same price if not less.

Don't get me wrong there was a voltage offset I had to correct for with the LC-1 but you can actually adjust it on that unit.

No I haven't... I don't use pin 15 EGR-T for my sensor's input to the ECU. I replaced my narrow band and am using my wideband exclusively native to the ECU via PIN 4. Mine reads fine after programming the output on the LC-1 for the offset of .10v the ECU sees.

I've tried the EGR and Baro inputs and have the same symptom of .1 or .2 off with Link not logging below 11.2 or 11.3. I need to just buy the buffer and be done with it.

Have any of you considered logging through your serial ports? I'm using my UEGO that way and everything is perfect. It took me 10 minutes to put together (including soldering) and cost about $7.

Or does dsmlink not do that?

Dsmlink logs voltage, there would be no way to log binary data.

I was just curious since evoscan logs the AEM through a serial port and I just assumed that dsmlink could as well. It seems like a much better setup since you have no losses in the system. I know that the evo guys have pretty much given up on getting an AEM gauge to work through an ecu input because it isn't accurate and the other method is so easy.

Perhaps someone should make a feature request.
