Has anyone ran one of the AEM FIC on a 1g? And can u run them in conjunction with a DSM Chip. It kind of looks to me like a WAY better version of an AFC with timing adjustment. Im looking to put one in but not finding a lot of info on it.

My friend bought one for his turbo 2.5rs. I could not get the thing to log. The car wouldn't start with it connected. I couldn't make any adjustments. This was about a year ago so they might have fixed the issues. It was only an issue with certain vehicles though. Almost everybody that had one on a subaru had those problems. I say register on the AEM forums to see if anybody has one on a dsm and how it worked for them.

K. Thanks, the whole no start with the subies is all i found also, but just wanted to see if anyone had luck on a dsm. Im heading to aem's forum to check it out further.

Are you talking about 1 or 2 g mafs or does it make a difference, I can run either one on my 1g, but sounds like i shoukd just look at a different option. I want dsm link but now I am thinking maft pro for the speed density option. I was just able to get a really good deal on the aem and was gonna try it. The car on my profile isnt the one its going on.

They have nothing to do with the maf, it has it's own map sensor. They work perfectly on dsm's if they are installed correctly. 4g63 and 420a's, they are a cheap easy tuning tool for those that don't have many options and lots of money.

AEM FIC not EMS is not designed for cars with MAF sensors. While it will work on some cars with MAF sensors, it does not support frequency based MAF sensors which is how ours operate. And that information is pulled straight from the forum on AEM's website. Version 8 will support some frequency style MAF sensors but again falls short with ours again. There are some people who have gotten it to work but some of the features don't function and for the cost just get DSMLink.

I use the F/IC and love it.

You just need to get the F/IC-8. Not the 6. The 8 is configured with a frequency adjustment table that will trim the kharmann-frequency MAF that our cars use. Or simply clamp it.

The 8 also has a built-in boost controller. You just need to use the AEM solenoid (or do what I did and buy a generic one for $30; as long is it is a fail-low solenoid, not a fail-high like the GM one)

I have mine configured to run 750cc/min injectors up to 20 PSI. Right now I am not even using the MAF frequency table. But I am using a water-methanol injection kit, which if it gets an error or low fluid signal causes the F/IC to switch to a conservative low-boost tune.

I am also using the VTEC output to drive a shift light (blue LEDs on my gauge bezel), and the 2 O2 voltage correction tables to alter the target AFR on the ECU without changing the fuel trim. Way better than an AFC in that case. I am still tuning it to get the trim just right... Have an appointment with an AWD Dynomax to get that bit done.

Trust me, this system is worth the money.
