I have a AEM 5 bar that I am ready to install along with my AEM AIT and AEM WB, I am going to hook these up to my link and start logging with them.

On the MAP the instructions say that I need a 5v source to power it, where could I find a 5v signal wire at?

The AIT is easy enough, ground one side of it and send the other to the ECU.

On the WB what is the best imput on the ECU to install it in? And should I use the NB simm?

Here is the list of available inputs for a 1g ECU. You need to be using the GM MAF cable to have enough inputs for all 3 sensors, I believe.

The GM MAF cable gives you the appropriate 5v inputs.

Now say he chooses to wire in his wideband output to the egr pin on his ecu. Won't these values logged be in *F? Is there a table that we are able to convert *F to AFR? I have my wideband installed and I am also hoping I can log wbo2 values through mmcd until summer hits (maybe V3 in the future).
 
Do I realy need to get the MAF cable? If its eiser to hook up everything I'll get it, and can I use it when they release the SD? main reason I got the sensors is to be prepaired when the SD becomes available.

I don't know how that will work. I wouldn't think you'd need it since SD doesn't use a MAF/MAS.
 
I would not run the MAF with the SD, just the cable with the imputs and output for my sensors.
 
I figured that. I just don't know how you'd run the cable without having a GM MAF in there then, since that's where one end of the cable connects.

I'm curious about this too (and hopefully I'm just over thinking a simple answer) since I wasn't planning on purchasing the GM MAF cable. I'm just going to run my MAF-T until SD comes out and then eliminate it all together.
 
The cable should still work with out the MAF conected, the imputs and outputs will still be conected to the ECU via the factory MAF plug, just unpluging the other end of the cable where it plugs into the GM MAF should not change anything.

I'm waiting SD so I can install the Holset, I dont want to reduce my 4" intake to 3" for the GM MAF, nor do I want to install my MAF in my UICP just to take it back out in a few weeks.
 
Maybe "somebody" will enlighten us on this.

I'm sorry...I've read up through this thread a bit, but I'm not exactly sure of the question. Are you just asking if you can use our "GM MAF" cable without a GM MAF plugged into it? If so, yeah, that's not a problem.

You could then use the breakout connections for running a GM/AEM IAT into the MAF harness on the IAT input and a pressure sensor to the baro input (through a buffer circuit which is provided internally in the GM MAF cable).

So there is some benefit to the cable even if you're not running a GM MAF. But you don't have to use the cable. You can just run the sensors directly to the harness yourself. The biggest benefit to using the GM MAF cable would be that it's a bit easier given that it plugs into an existing harness connection and that it provides a buffered input to the baro connection.

On a 2G ECU, that buffer circuit may actually be necessary if you're going to run a pressure sensor to the baro input. More details here. But you can either (1) use a separate buffer circuit for this if you did not want to use the GM MAF cable or (2) simply run the pressure sensor to a different input. You can configure ECMLink to look for its pressure signal from any one of the available inputs.

So if I buy the cable I won't have to run wires inside the cabin and splice into the ECU or try to find a 5v source for the MAP or buy a buffer correct?
 
I knew I should have ordered that damned cable! only reason I didn't was because of the SD :thumb:
