Will be shooting for a nice, reliable 300whp car very shortly. Have a 98 GSX.......have researched many different things. Question is how big of a FMIC should i have to support 300whp? Whats the best kit that requires the least amount of cutting? Is the Supra TT side mount efficient enough to support 300whp?

Thanks!

A Supra sidemount IC should be fine as long as your car is TUNED right and you don't live in an ultra-humid & hot climate. It's always best to go with a FMIC, however, if you ever decide to upgrade even further in the future. If you push more than 300whp, you'll almost for sure heatsoak with a Supra IC. www.slowboyracing.com has an awesome FMIC setup for under $900 which includes all the plumming from the turbo to the intake manifold. My advice, as many others will be, go with a FMIC.

My motto is, "If you take shortcuts, you'll get cut short...Period."

SBR FMIC kit is very nice. You could also go with a Johnny race car FMIC and make your own piping. I went that route and it cost about $600 and thats with buying dejon UICP ($200) and SBR J-pipe ($100)
All depends on if you want to do your own custom work or pay a little more and have it all set for ya :thumb:

yea, those companies suck...

and i would think that a smic would suffice for 300 whp...

all i have to say is remove your fog lights and cut the flap of plastic behind the smic and youll be fine...

Bought car from original owner who took great car of car..........looks like he already removed the flap of plastic in the front nose to allow more in. Other than that the car is stock (for this week at least :thumb: ).

I saw Godspeed has a package w/piping for $450 shipped.........i know he makes quality stuff for WRX's..........anyone have any experience with those? Also, i'd rather NOT cut into the bumper. Thanks again.

Agree'd.

Do it right the first time.

That's pretty much my motto.

I do want to creat somewhat of a sleeper. Is there a particular type of paint you would want to use if you were to make it black?

Whats ontario like? I'm considering moving there for the Brigestone Race Mechanics program (www.race2000.com )

Please take into consideration that the so called SBR intercooler kit is far from and SBR product. Its a Kinetics intercooler kit, SBR just puts their name on it and re-sells it. Yes, it is a very good intercooler and has amazing quality, I own one myself and couldnt be happier. I highly recomend it. The intercooler use 3 mounting positions using factory hardware and fits perfectly. It requires a little cutting for the piping to route and the bumper support as well. On my 1g i didnt have to cut the bumper either and mind you the core is huge 34,12,3 are the measurements. www.pinamotorsports.com has this kit for under $900 for both 1 and 2g. Shipping is 45 dollars and comes well packaged in bubble rap and peanuts virtually unharmable. Ryan and Andre at Pina are awesome people and will help and walk you threw installation and any other question you hve reguarding your DSM. Give em a call at 1-253-872-9495.
