Calgary,
I just had the car up on jacks to change some tranny fluid and tighten my downpipe. When I got it down, and went for a mild drive, I'm getting a very odd clunking/vibrating/thumping noise coming from somewhere from my seat and forward.
I've gone through the obvious things, I could use a new wheel bearing, and a new rear U-Joint, but I doubt those are the problems. I'm not a newbie, just trust me, it's not the bearing, and there's a slight chance it's the u-joint.
What are the chances of my pressure plate bolts backing off? I used LocTite and torque to spec. I've run the car since a motor rebuild for 15,000 miles now. Any ideas on this?
The noise shows up primarily when I accelerate, and let off, with my car in gear, clutch out. The noise is faster than the frequency of my wheels turning, so I highly doubt it's the wheel bearing and the CV shafts.
In first and second gear, does the driveshaft(for awd) move faster than the wheels or slower. I'm sure it's faster, but I'd just like to have a concrete answer.
Thanks for ANY input guys.
