So I've had my '95 TSi AWD for about a year and a half now. The car is all stock except for Small 16g, intake pipe and a Greddy Type S BOV.

Eventually I'd like to make a lot of power (550-650 awhp) but since I'm new to modifying I'm going to try and take it slow. I've lurked these forums for a long time, reading everything I could and I have a couple questions.

Right now I'd like to upgrade my fuel system, get a full exhaust, ECMLink/wideband, boost controller/boost gauge and install a FMIC kit I bought.

The FMIC I bought has a bung for an IAT and is flanged for a Tial Q BOV (which I understand is a vented BOV). I plan on eventually going to Speed Density and running a Tial Q BOV, so I was wondering since my Intercooler piping already supports both of these, would it hurt to upgrade to SD now?

My turbo is only a small 16g, but since I'd like big power in the furture I figured I'd buy the larger injectors and pump now to save myself from doing it twice. I was looking into FIC bluemax 1250cc and a walbro 450 pump.

Obviously my turbo would never flow enough air to make this fuel system break a sweat, but from what I've read this should work OK if I have an aftermarket FPR. I'd just like some verification on this.

I would appreciate any input, thanks! :talon: :D

Your also going to need a fuel pressure regulator and an inline fuel pump along with in tank walbro 450 pump to make 600 hp. Going with speed density now is fine if you want. You will deff need a bigger turbo, but I'm not gonna tell you which to go with on that, it's your choice and there are lots of options. When you say ECM link/wideband you mean just the wide band or the ECM link piggy back as well. ECMlink is now DSMlink and it is the best band for buck when it comes to tuning, a MUST.

Also keep in mind your suspension and tire options. Upgrade LSD.

There are lots of maintenance and upgrade stickies on here so be sure to give them all a read, and have some fun!

Hey thanks for your response! I have read that the walbro 450 can support 500+ awhp so I wasn't under the impression I'd need two fuel pumps?

My car is an AWD talon, not FWD. Also, I meant using a wideband in conjunction with ECM Link!

I know you have AWD, but I am running an Evo3 16g @ 22psi on a FWD platform and cant keep the wheels from spinning. I feel I have enough power (for a street FWD car) off of my 16g. Unless you plan on making a track car or really want to make massive HP, then go for a Holset setup. This will probably bring you to your HP goals, but I am not sure you really "need" all that. With a small 16g with proper supporting mods (Im thinking like running E85 and tuning), you could be in the 11-12 sec range, if not a smidge quicker. Even with an Evo3, you will make more power. Do a search too, I know some vender is making an exhaust manifold so we can bolt-on an Evo 10 ( I think) turbo.

FYI....a wallbro 190 doesn't require a FPR on a 2g. I am running a 190 with no issues yet.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately E85 is not available to me here in south Jersey. The car will be a street/strip car. Not seeing a whole lot of street time, though.

Anyone else care to chime in on the mods I plan on doing?

Whoa now, 650awhp is a monster. 400awhp in a street car is nuts. Take it slow or your car will never leave the jackstands, seriously.

All great ideas. Wideband should be every cars absolute first "mod". Any tuner you use will require it. Link(or any tuning) is necessary before you mod the fuel system. But the fuel system should immediately follow the tuner.

The boost gauge, mbc, exhaust, and fmic can all be done now. Nothing required there.

You can't go SD without the tuner like link. But if you mean to convert to sd, then no it wont hurt anything. Tuning a stock car will show gains. SD just enhances those gains slightly.

A maxed out s16g is a pretty fun turbo. But yes there really is no point in buying fuel mods twice. Just make sure your tuner can run them.

What fuel system? The stock fuel system will absolutely not support a s16g. Which can make 330whp pretty regularly.

An afpr will be needed for pumps larger then a 190lph.

Thanks for all the info, stocker!

The fuel system I meant was the one I mentioned (FIC bluemax 1250cc, Walbro 450 etc)

The Tial Q does not have a special flange. It is just a Tial flanged pipe, I have a Tial Q and a Tial QR (Recirculated) and they both fit.

Yes that is what I meant. My UICP is flanged for a TiAL Q BOV

1250's I would not think large enough for 650awhp. I only skimmed though your thread but do you plan on this being a DD? A 600 hp DD is no joke.

dsm2gnick makes roughly that much with 1000cc injectors. I figured 1250 would suffice. I may be wrong, though.

Technically yes it will be daily driven. About 50 miles a week, so not too much
