General Advanced scan tools

I am considering a better scan tool. Something that can read better live data, misfires etc but I'm betting I price myself out of it. Anybody got any comments?
Torque pro is handy but very simple.

your talking about a general purpose one right? Cause i would assume you would just use Link if you needed a data stream off your talon.

Bosch has some decent general purpose ODB scanners.
you can get a Bosch 1350 for around $200

Autel has so many different type of scanners .... You may have to do a bit of reading of the features of each one till you find the one you want for the right price..

Autel is what I use at work. I use the Maxi-TPMS unit (don't let the name fool you, it does so much more than tpms). It's fairly pricey but totally worth it. I've made my money with it.

find yourself a used snap on solus. many of them have up to date software, and they also have bi-directional controls

The snap on is easy to use. It will show you most of the data, and is able to actavate certain relays and solenoids for testing. Autel is great but some of the data is Incorrect or it says it can do something butt flat out wont. The right autel is more powerful, just not as user friendly. There are lots of YouTube videos on both

I'm no more educated now than 6 weeks ago it seems. Does anybody here own an oscilloscope? It seems all the time I experience intermittent failures of components and I could test them for intermittent behavior. A DMM can miss stuff sometimes.
I'm currently chasing a problem with my new to me subaru.
Just thinking out loud...for now.
