When increasing timing in dsm link are your using the timing adjustment table in ecu config or do you have to do it in direct access?

thats what i figured, with the sliders your adding a degree across the board correct? were direct access you can adjust on sell at a time

Well.. say I was dialing in my total timing at the top end of 3rd gear, I want to add 2 degrees from 5500+.. I'd use the sliders to add 2 degrees after a pull that showed zero knock, Do another pull with the added timing and if I still have zero knock I'd see what cells I was using in the pull past 5500 and increase the timing by 2 in that cell and 1 in the surrounding ones in my DA table then zero out the sliders.... Rinse wash repeat til knock. or back timing off and add boost.

That is just an example but it's basically how I do my WOT tuning. I'm not saying it's right, but it works for me.
