adjusting hte CAS will increase timing advance throughout the entire range, correct? and will this advance show up on logginf devices such as pocketlogger?

Yes, No.

I will give you extra timing ALL the time. Devices such as the pocketlogger assume the factory specified 5 degrees BTDC. If your timing is at 8 degres BTDC, then you have to add 3 to the numbers on the logger to get your true timing.

which way do you turn the cas to advance it??

Just bust out the timing light, and turn it until it's where you want it. If it goes the wrong way, then you need to rotate it the other direction.
