I'm in need of some help with the Infinity Amp + Aftermarket HU (Kenwood DDx512) + Second Amp and Sub. I've read almost all of the older posts about these issues, but mine is a bit more specific and no one really answered this question. So, I'm hoping to get a straight answer.

Background:
I've already installed the Kenwood HU and the MITAH adapter, all new Pioneer 3-way and 4-way speakers and that's all working correctly. But I noticed on my HU that I only have 2 sets of RCA pre-outs, which are being used by the factory amp (via MITAH 6 PIN cable to 4 RCA) but I wanted to hook up my second amp somehow. I tried using a Y-splitter for RCA's off either channel, but that won't work for some reason and I know it can create horrible feedback, so I'll pass on that. I wanted to keep the tweeters without having to install the X-overs and such, so I was just going to keep the Infinity amp for now... but I would like to have the Sub working.

Question:
Is it possible to just get a Line Converter for the rear 6x9's to have another RCA output for the rear Amp? Everything is hooked up and powered, including the in-line tap for the Remote wire off the MITAH. The amp turns on and off as it should, just no RCA connectivity from the HU. Without re-wiring and buying a ton more things (X-overs, replacement Amp for Infinity amp), will the Line Converter work for me?

Thanks in advance.

I believe I found the answer in the VFAQ section in a write-up, I just wanted to get some feedback from others on here that have also done this and any suggestions or advice they have with their experiences.

Thanks.

Why didnt you just get a HU that had sub output? Mine works great stock amp does great still even running the stock speakers in the back and one 12 in the hatch. What made a difference for me was when I turned the LPF on so it takes the bass out of the front and rear speakers and leaves the bass to the sub woofer. Then the sub can also be controlled by the head unit + or - Db

The line converter will work, however it will give really poor signal and you will not have proper sub control. Its a nice HU over all but switching to another unit with triple pre-outs may be a better decision in the long run. Hope this helps!

Thanks guys for your input. I'm not sure exactly what I want to do yet... I just found out that my whole problem was the subwoofer that I borrowed form my brother. It was a bad sub... probably from sitting so long and not being used. Every option I tried worked, except for the fact that nothing was coming out of the sub because it was shot. I don't really want to spend a crap load of money on the system, it's my summer only car and I just wanted a little bump for cruisin... so I'll just pick myself up a decent 12" and run the Y-RCA cables that I have. One question though, will getting signal from the HU be better when using the Y cables?

My Gf can use the Converter on her car because she doesn't want to switch out the HU in her Tibby, but of course wants bump.

I did notice, when using the Converter, the sub was a little out of synch with the rest of the car. A little weird in my opinion, so that's just another reason why I don't really want to use it. My only other problem will be that my Y cables aren't really long enough to reach the trunk, so I'll just have to do some rearranging. Oh well... the life of customizing, right?!!
