I'm getting my transmission rebuilt soon by TRE and am going to be buying a new clutch disc and I already have a ACT2600 in it right now but I've been looking at my other options and have been thinking about going with the South Bend and would like to know peoples opinions on it compared to the 2600. I can get a 2600 6 puck sprung for $129 shipped to my door or I can get this TMZ Performance

I will be running a 18g and shooting for 400whp if that matters..

I've never driven the ACT disc, but I have the Southbend one and love the way it feels. Plus, Tim ran that disc with a previous setup with much more hp/torque than you plan on making and it held just fine. That was enough proof to convince me.

Ya I'm definitely leaning more towards the Southbend, I've ran the ACT twice and haven't been all too impressed with it like a lot of people are and I always run the 6 puck sprung disc.

I have run both back to back, and I can easily say the southbend kevlar is the way to go. I found that it actually engages a bit better, less chatter and a more positive engagement than my ACT organic disk. Its easily handled everything my 68HTA has thrown at it. You wont regret it.

Reading more on it I see that it says a ACT2100 pressure plate is capable of being used with it and getting the same results as using a 2600 I think.

So should I go ahead and just buy the SS-Series Pressure Plate, TZ-Series Kevlar Clutch Disk, SBC Throwout Bearing and Clutch Alignment Tool kit?

I'm so stoked on this!

I would get a 2600 just in case you ever decide to throw down extra power. its always better to over build when you decide 400 hp snit enough. Also I think i would stick with a ACT streetlight wheel over my fidianza. It required a bit less to rev to get it going from 1st. And use a mitsu TOB.

The one bit of advice i do have is when you put the bell housing back on make sure you replace the shift fork and fulcrum ball. Then make sure it is perpendicular to the bellhousing if not a bit towards the drivers side. I didn't first time around and i had to tear it down again because my engagement point was right off the floor.

I can easily say I could not be happier with this clutch.

I have a Jacks clutch fork and fulcrum ball already, is it true I can use a ACT2100 pressure plate with the SB and have the same results as a 2600 pressure plate with a act disc?

I bought the TZ/FE-Series Full-Face Kevlar/Feramic Sprung Clutch Disk, i'm using it with a ACT 2100 PP, i think this combination can handle a max of 420ft of torque.
Ask twicks69, he helped me with my clutch decision.

I called Tim yesterday from TMZ, he said people have made 540whp with the 2100PP and the TZ disc but he doesn't recommend doing so. He said it will be perfect though for my setup so I've decided to run that, and he is gonna give me a deal :)

How is this setup working out for you?

I'm bringing this thread back to life. My clutch (6 year old ACT 2100 with a street disk) started slipping on me bad last night at the drag strip. I'm looking into this today and trying to decide what to go with.

My first thought was an ACT 2600 with a street disk but looking into it I'm hearing some bad things about the newer ACT's. I've also been hearing really good things about the South Bend Clutches. The options I'm looking at are keeping my 2100 PP and getting a South Bend disk or getting the South Bend SS/TZ Clutch Kit. If I could get away with getting just a new disk and reusing my PP, that would be awesome. But if it would work best for me to get the full kit, I can do that too.

I'm currently on a 14b making somewhere in the neighborhood of 300hp, front wheel drive with a Quaife. I street drive, autox, and drag so I want a clutch that works for all three. Slicks or DR's for the drag strip are in the near future.

*EDIT - I also have a Fidanza Aluminum flywheel, which i've read is not the best when paired with the South Bend disks. Any opinion on this? Is it still ok or should I also be looking into an different flywheel?

I'm in the same boat. This week I have been eyeing up new clutches for my setup. I have finally reached the limits of the Centerforce clutch and need something to pair with my act streetlite flywheel. I am contemplating on purchasing a Comp stage 4 clutch. I too had researched ACT/SB clutches, but a friend of mine has had great success with his Comp clutch. Anyone else had experience with Comp?

I have no expirience with the Comp clutches. The only performance clutch I have ever used was my ACT 2100 and it lasted me a long time and I was very happy with it. For my new clutch though I decided to go with the South Bend TZ/FE dual friction clutch disk, South Bend "SS" pressure plate, and ACT "Streetlite" flywheel.

I have act 2600 6 puck sprung, with act streetlite flywheel. I'v never had any issues and have ran this setup for a year and a half its never slipped. i put a bit of pressure on it and tend to be quite harsh. but that act 2600 clutch keeps coming back for more..
