? about AFPR

Hey, I go for inspection soon and I was had a quick question about the aeromotive AFPR. I installed one a month ago and I realize that when the car is off the fuel pressure on the gauge returns to zero. I was just wondering if its suppose to do that or if I have a small leak in my system? Any help would be great-Thanks.

If I were looking for a leak I would simply turn the key to the on so the fuel pump runs. I would leave the key on, which will leave the pressure in the lines, and look under the hood and under the car for any drips. A gas leak should be obvious. As far as the pressure dropping; it should drop after turn off the engine.

I have asked this same question before and it seems that the only solution is to install a new relay to allow the fuel pump to turn on as soon as you turn the key to the acc position and build pressure. I am going to see if there is a way to install a check valve inline so the pressure wont bleed off.

If you have a fuel leak it should be pretty obvious.

Hmmmm, I see what your talking about, although my car starts up right away, maybe after about 4 cranks. Thats weird....

Yeah mine starts up pretty quickly. I will turn the key and within a few seconds of turning over the motor it will start.

Do you think that I can still pass inspection with the pressure reducing??

Your fuel pump will not power up with the key at "on" position. To turn the pump on without turning the car on, you need to connect the fuel pump check valve on the firewall to the positive battery terminal.

Your fuel pump will not power up with the key at "on" position. To turn the pump on without turning the car on, you need to connect the fuel pump check valve on the firewall to the positive battery terminal.

Yeah, I found this out when I was trying to diagnose a problem I had that I thought could have been related to my fuel pump. Live and learn.
