I just purchased a 93 tsi awd. I have a few ? concerning the performance of the car?? First ? is when driving my car it seems it takes alot of gas to get it going and to keep it there to , normal driving around town w/ od on 40mph+ my vacume on my autometer bost gauge is reading about 4in . on the highway no better about the same depending on the road but I am refering to flat. Second the car seems to shift 1-2-3 very fast at light throtle seems almost to early and does not rev enough could be me! Oh yeah and another thing too I check the fluid and I have been dealing with cars all my life and this is the first acr I hade problems reading the dip-stick for the level, seems like the fluid id splattering the stick. any ideas on checking fluid?? last but not least I have this periodic surging when driving almost like the car surges with the lights on my A/F ratio gause (WIERD) sometimes it takes some serios throttle to get buy this and then the boost goes nutts. Please help. My mods are:
1. evo3 16g
2. evo-manifold
3. 2.5 turbo back
4. K&N cut box

I'd say this sounds like a fuel problem, maybe trans related, it's hard to tell. What is 4in, 4 psi? If it's 4 psi, then it's not vacuum. -4 is vacuum.

Well that's because the car will shift fast at light throttle. The DSM A/T has 'fuzzy auto' which changes the shifting points and qualities based on your TPS.

Drive the car around and get it warm. Pull over and shut the car off. Pull the dip stick, clean it, then put it back in and see where it's at.

I think you're going to need to explain this situation a little better if you want some help.
A few things to get your questions better answered, PROOF READ your posts, get a datalogger and get some real numbers and you'll be able to see exactly what is going on. Good Luck.

Thanks for that info, in regards to my post I was a bit shy on the info I do have a dattalogger and just yesterday I did a log on my car and it seems I have mad knock sum (43) very periodically, which in return in dropping my timming to as low ass -10, so this would explain my having to hammer the gas to get going from a stop, because it only seems to do it when I stop then go. Mabey its a bad motor mount causing this un-real knock. nice pic of my evo-16-g turbo and manifold install, major gains over the 13b

Nice pics, looks fairly clean. Did you ever think about doing Stan's A/T mod? You can find it on the IPT message board.
It could also be a bad knock sensor?
