The other day I was driving doing about 50-60 and then my a/t temp light came on. Well I pulled over and smoke started rising up from my engine bay. I popped the hood and tons of smoke from the trans side. When it cleared I can see trans fluid all over the trans and everything on that side of the engine bay. Well I ended up letting it sit for awhile to cool down and i added more tranny fluid to get it home. I repeated this 2 times on my way home.
Trans mods= 3500 stall TQ, shift kit, alto clutches, trans cooler.

I already had a small leak at the trans cooler that I already knew about. (Thats why i had extra trans fluid with me:shhh: )

One thing that i never notice is my trans dip stick as no rubber to seal it(for instance like the oil dip stick). Is this true with all trans dip sticks?

Where should i look for leaks? Any common areas?

Thanks
Jeff

My trans stick has a seal. Look for leaks arounf the input shafts and the lines. If you cant find anything there, get the dye you can put in the fluid so that when you put a black light on it you can see where its comming from.

I would jack it up and using a bright light observe where it's coming from with the engine running. Should not be hard to locate. If it is, get some dye and dye the fluid. Use a black light and then observe.

Good Luck

I have heard of this dye but what is it called? Can i pick it up any automotive store?

Anyone know about this? Could this be my problem?

Thanks

Sorry, i missed that.

I looked at it last night and one of the hoses to the cooler was a little loose. After i tighten that up and i let it run awhile and put it through the gears and i didnt see no leak. But im going to get a new dipstick before i drive it. Maybe make a stop at the junkyard.:thumb:

Thanks for the help guys.:thumb:
