I'm trying to figure out a way to fit a sub maybe a 10 or 12 into a 2G and have it look kinda stock/not take up much space but still sound decent. And by decent I dont want it to be heard down the block, I just want it to fill in the sound. So post your pics and tell me your ideas. Thanks

not sure if it will work in a 2G, but in my 1G i dumped my spare, and made a fiberglass enslosure for a 10.

If you can't find one, let me know, and I will call them to see if I can track one down for you. Also, I could make you one for whatever sub you want, wherever in the trunk you want. They aren't cheap, but usually end up being better cause I make it to sound like you want it to, for the music you listen to. Here is one I made for my buddies 02 GTi, I only had a day to make the amp racks, so please no one clown on the too much. :p

Damn in one day on those amp racks they look effin sweet. Always wanted to get a setup in my trunk like that but damn i didnt fell like spending a grand on that...Thats a new turbo ;)

I have an 8 inch bass tube and a little 100 watt amp in my car. It isn't the loudest thing in town but it does make music sound a lot better. Outside the car you can't really tell it's not a stock radio but inside it sounds real clean.

I had a pair of JL Audio 8W1-4s in my front doors of my 98 GSX. Funny thing is that I just made a pair of 1" thick rings out of MDF and sound deadened the hell out of the front doors. (13 hours each with dry time on the spray on stuff) I have yet to hear an eclipse that hit as hard with speakers mounted in the stock locations, even other cars with 8s in the doors. Point is, just sound deaden the door and door panel VERY good. And make spacers for the woofers. Works like a champ. Oh, and I believe I had to trim the little fins off the back on the grill to make sure the woofer didn't hit it when it moved. Also, it is a MUST to run 12 ga. spkr. wire to the 8s directly from your amp, the factory wire will not cut it.

Funny thing about that install is that I did it in 8 days. 3 of the days were just sound deadening and wiring. 5 - 36 sq. foot boxes of Dynamat Extreme = 180 SQ. FT of Dynamat!!! I even dynamated every panel in the car. It is tuned for S.Q. and it hit 149.9 DB. :) One Focal 13" Utopia sub with the Phoenix Gold 1000.2 Titanium amp.

Here is part of the car when I was sound deadening it. The rest of the car looks just like it, doors included, inside the door and out w/ the door panel done this way also. ;)

My buddies say I am too pick with the lettering all lining up, but I said one or two of the logos is perfect. ;)

Wow! You got some serious skills!

Question: When you dynamat do you just go over all of the wires runnign around the car? Especially in the doors?

Answer for Poster: You might wanna look into a Bazooka Bass Tube or Infinity Bass Link, they take up very little room and should give you the kick you want. They are a pretty good solution for you guys that dont want to give up your entire hatch Like i did for my 15.

there's an extra 250 lbs!! holy shyt

nice job on the dynamat though and your buddies car too

as for the poster... i think a single 10" sub in a small fiberglass box would work out nicely. i have a simple how-to on my webpage for making a fiberglass enclosure. might help you out a little.

yikes thats a lot of dynomat, there's is a product like that, that you can get at a hardware store that has all the same properties as that stuff, but it's like 50% cheaper :thumb: . it's called peel and seal. it's for roofing. but alot of my friends use it and it sounds great. :dsm:

I agree that a single 10" sub is exactly what you need. Thanks for the compliments. :thumb:

A single ten is what I would recommend, however the way i understood it he doesnt seem too big into car audio/doesn't want to give up any space. So thats why i recommended the basslink or basstubes.

Mackzero: I still wanna know if you went over all the wires and stuff with dynamat. You've definitely got some mad skills. I hope to achieve your level of expertise some day.

I'm sorry I didn't answer you earlier. YES, I will lay the sound deadening over the wiring IF it is something I know does not need to move. You do not want to make the wiring too tight. Thanks for the :thumb: I appreciate it. Basically Dynamat the hell out of anything that can move or resonate or vibrate, etc. And if you take you time and line it all up, and make it so everything goes back together perfect and you can't see it... You did a perfect job. ;)

ahh peel-n-seel is Crap! It's good if you're on an extreme budget and plan on replacing it. It will fall off in a couple months or on the first real hot day. :thumbdown

Just be sure not to over-dampen your car with too much mat. 2 layers is the most you will usually want to do. Too much, and you will turn the cabin of your car into an resonant nightmare and your music won't sound as good as it could.

Yep. One good layer is all you need for the most part, unless the panel or area you are working on is really bad.

i have an infinity basslink in my car and it will probably do ya'. it will not blow out the front glass by any means, but it will probably give you the bass you want at an affordable price (mine new w/remote off of e-bay f/$150, used ones even less). plus it does not take up much room and will work off of 'stock' system.
