hi

i got a 2G AT eclipse turbo (most parts still stock) and i think about a new setup

the final setup should bring my eclipse about 450-500hp

i hope you could help me to find the right parts

- wanna upgrad my turbo for a quicker respond and more hp
i think about a 18G with a Tubular Header (need i a external wastegate for that?)

- denso 550cc Injectors (is that ok for a 18G ?)
the walbro 255 fuel pump is installed (another fuelrail?)

- to getting my AT in shape what can i do (or better: what parts are needed???) ?

- to get all upgrades together i wanna use a AEM Engine Management System
(i think without buieng a boostcontroller and a fuel controller i can save money)

thx for all help

18G is a good choice-- I just put one on my A/T last week. Good spool, pulls hard. You won't make 450-500HP with it, though. But start out a little more realistic and work your way up.

If you're gonna go big time, get 660cc or larger injectors. Stock fuel rail is fine.

A/T: shift kit, end clutch upgrade, fluid/filter change (Amsoil ATF plus a bottle of LubeGard black). You'll eventually want an upgraded high-stall torque converter to run a biggie turbo for that kind of HP, but for now the stocker is OK.

The AEM EMS won't work with an A/T, at least not easily. Consider DSMLink.

First off.. the 18g will not support 450-500whp. You're best off getting the FP 3052 or 3065. Second, you're going to need a lot more than 550's for that pwoer. They're good for up to at the most 375whp. Third, if you want to go the auto route, it's expensive, but great. I have a friend who's in the top 5 (I think) fastest auto's in the US, and he has dumped loads of cash on just his a/t, not even thinking about the supporting mods and everything else. Good luck with whatever you decide to do!

-Skip the tubular manifold. For the money I have not seen it do anything great when compared to the good old ported 2G or Evo manifolds.

-18G is an OK turbo and will not put you at your power goals. It is better that you start out with lower goals though while you learn the car and how to tune it.

-Go with something larger than 550s or you will find yourself upgrading again in the future.

-Stock fuel rail will be fine.

-AEM is overkill and is not for a beginner. Start out on the path that has already been blazed by the thousands of DSMers before you and learn along the way.

the ported 2G manifold looks like stock (some style is a must!)

ok the 18G turbo with 720cc injectors (denso has o good name)

how many hp will a 18G support?

to the AT: what about this

???

"AEM is overkill" ok im beginner (like all eclipse turbo owner in germany) but whats the better way: using fuel- and a boostcontroller or using a EMS (and save money) ???

You'll NEED to have some kind of device to compensate for the injectors. An AFC coupled with a good (http://www.pocketlogger.com) logger makes a decent tuning base. Instead you may want to consider investing in an EPROM ECU along with a copy of DSMLink on it though, if you want to be able to tune the car really well AND have a great datalogging package that will allow you to see knock (which is very valuable information). Although more tunability invites more chances to screw up and kill your engine. It may not be the best idea if you're a complete beginner to tuning.

issnt it the same to compare the boost and the injection part with a free programmable ecu (EMS at a dyno programmed) or using a boostcontroller (greddy e-01)for the turbo and a fuelcontroller (apexi safc)for the injection?

id think 660's would be fine.. id start out with a 20g myself.
if ya want style on the exhaust mani make a new heet shield or buy one allready made

instead of AEM id go dsmlink - much more beginer friendly - all tho it can read boost - ya would still need a boost controller

sry for spam but
if all informations are in the EMS
why need i a boostcontroller if a EMS take all boost and fuel datas?

I'll mention this one more time and then I'll shut up. It's practically impossible to get the AEM EMS to work with the A/T's TCU. It's way more trouble than it's worth. I think only one guy has made it work so far and I believe he had to completely rework the TCU. Choose another engine management setup.

You will need a boost controller to be able to turn up the boost from the factory 12PSI to whatever you want to run. I think the guy above me meant that DSMLink CAN NOT read boost. It uses all factory hardware, and the factory ECU does not read boost, therefore DSMLink does not read boost.

ok i need i boostcontroller

and what about the fuel controller?
could this part do the EMS ?

i need a quick responding turbo (not for topspeed)
is the 18G a good choice?
