a curious question

i bought my exhaust header a while back off ebay and noticed there was some kind of bung welded to it. but the threads are on the outside im just curious what its purpose is.

My friend had the same thing and he just blocked it off like you did and it didn't harm anything but i'm nit sure what it was there for either...my guess is an extra o2 outlet?

That extra hole is for the secondary air system, which is only found in 95 ESI's with a M/T. It was recalled regardless, but they still put the bung on the headers for it.

Was it only on the 95 manuals? I always wondered about that. Had it on mine and removed it pretty quickly because I had no idea what it was. Couldn't find a header at the time that had that. Weird.

David- Yeah as far as I know it's only found on the 95 5-speeds. I ripped mine out too and had to solder in a resistor to get the CEL off. It was a big ol' fail on the early 2g design.
