I've heard that cutting your A/C belt can add some power..:sneaky:
Haha! I'm just wondering because, my a/c needs to be recharged anyways, but i don't know if i even want it in there.
Was thinking about just pulling out the whole compressor, and condensor. Maybe free up some weight, and have less things running off the crank.
Plus my A/C pulley is rubbing on my timing cover.

But anyways, what do you think?
I'm all for easy power gains!:D

If I'm not getting any gains, then I'm just gonna recharge it, and use a couple washers to shim it out a bit to stop rubbing.

You won't necessarily "gain" any power, but you will free up some power that you are currently losing from the parasitic loss of the a/c system.

You will have one less item drawing of the crank and you will be shedding about 40lbs if I remember correctly. Plus side is that your engine bay is less crowded and the rad doesn't have that extra item in it. If you really wanted to, you could also remove you ac fan or put it on a toggle for additional in demand cooling.

You really only lose power when you have the a/c on. The real advantage is cleaning up the engine bay for things like alternator relocation kits and the wieght savings, but that only comes when you remove everything a/c related.

Alright, I'm gonna chop my belt tomorrow, just so i can drive it without the annoying rubbing.
Then, I'll remove my A/C components this weekend.
Thanks guys.:thumb:
