I searched around a bit and couldn't really find a clear cut answer but I was wondering just how much the a/c and condenser actually weigh and decide if its worth deleting while my motor is out. Also what problems would I run into with defrosting and defogging? I don't care much about tolerating the summer heat but in the winter and the humid rainy days I want to make sure ill still be able to defog my windshield. Thanks guys.

Depends on how serious you are about weight. IMO it is worth removing anything your regulations allow.

You will need the non-a/c heater duct from the RS, this will allow you to keep some semblance of defog capability, though it doesn't work particularly well; I use Rain-X anti-Fog in conjunction and the two do an adequate job.

I have removed my A/C. I recommend not removing it if your car is a daily driver. Sweat your ass off in an Ohio summer all because you wanted to save 35lbs. Not worth it!

i think it all comes down to how serious you really are, or cheap in my case. LOL the way i see it is free mods. It is really annoying in the mornings when i have to let the car warm up in order for the heat of the motor the defog my window. so i just keep it in the garage at night. You'll be screwed in the rain tho.

^ Not necessary if you just keep the a/c box under the dash. Heat and defrost is just the same if you leave that part still in.

Wrong.

The non-a/c duct is required to link the heater box to the distribution centre - stick your head in the passenger foot well and confirm it for yourself.

I think I might leave it in even though I never really use it unless its over 90 out just because of the defog. Although I wanted to do it not only for weight but also for a cleaner engine bay I think I can live with it In there.

I just removed my ac. Dropped about 40 pounds I think. I removed it while the motor was in. It wasnt fun. But I didnt have ac since I baught the car. Defrosting and what not wasnt a problem for me. Youll still have air just not real cold.

yea personally I don't use the a/c that much since I prefer to listen to the exhaust and turbo spool with the windows down no matter what the heat outside is like LOL. I was just worried about the defrosting and defogging because I know that the a/c pulls the moisture out of the air or whatever and unfortunately I do have to drive my car in the winter this year.

Your heat will still work for the winter. If this is your daily then thats up to you. But if you have spare time and want to save wait then itll help. I followed that link for the delete. I would reccomend not removing the bracket with the compressor. But if you have the motor out then do what you want. But as far as support, im willing to bet money that you wont have a problem with defogging and what not. I never did.

just remove the actual a/c compressor, condesor, lines, bracket etc. thats were all the weights at anyways, leave everything under the dash and your heater hose hooked up since its totally not worth removing on a street car.

I removed mine on my 2g and then went to UPS to get a price to have it shipped. Weighed in at 49-50lbs. This was the lines, compressor, condensor, and brackets. I would say that is enough weight to consider it, if you don't mind the heat!
