Evo3 Intake manifold testing will no longer be forthcoming.
I lost control of the car this morning in a turn that I take everyday on the way to work. both front fenders, the hood and the nose are destroyed.
both airbags deployed.
this was in a beautiful '99 GSX with 80k miles. I have no idea what happened as it was all very fast and is a little mixed up in my mind. Only injury I have is bruising to my inner left arm from the air bag and a slight bruising from the seatbelt.
Pictures will be coming later.
I was so shook up I just sat in front of the car saying "no".

Insurance hasn't inspected it yet, but the guess is "total loss":barf:

What a bummer, is the frame bent? You could buy the car back from the insurance company if they total it and maybe fix it or part it out.

Usually if the airbags deploy its going to be considered a total loss. I would try to buy it back, even if you can't ever get it to look right again for a reasonable price you can always make a purpose built racer out of it.

She hasn't been inspected yet, but I agree that if the airbags deploy, its usually a loss.
Trouble is, she was my DD.:|

here are pics

Oh man, sorry to hear that. Were you speeding? Doing something you weren't supposed to?

I've had my fair share of close calls around on ramps. Nothing serious just light scrapes...That was over two years ago and I have defiantly smartened up...I never test the waters anymore.

From the pictures you can see some serious frame damage. It is without a doubt totaled. Im sorry bro. Part her out.

I agree with everyone above, you should buy that thing back and even if you don't use the parts you can sell whats salvagable and get some money back. It sux to see another DSM gone though, sorry about your loss.

Wow, that looks like a nasty wreck.. so sorry to hear. Glad you're OK though.

Having been in an accident with my DSM a couple summers ago, I know how awful it feels. Right after it happened, I felt just sick to my stomach. Its like your still in shock and can't fully comprehend what just happened but you still get that horrible gut feeling. :(

yep, some nice damage there, definitely totaled. I hate to hear it man! Buy it back and part it out, then sell the frame for scrap, all you can do.

looks like there is some frame damage.

buy it back, part it out. or just let it go and itll make alot of junkyard dsm'ers really happy!

Sorry to see that man, I just picked up my mint 99 GSX and I know I'd be devastated... they're so hard to find nowadays, it's a good thing that you made it out OK.
I luv my DSM, the only thing I am not impressed with is how some kids act around me now that I have her, far too often I come across idiots that speed by me with their "fart-can" mufflers in an effort to impress me, I try to stay the heck away from their P.O.S. Pontiac Sunfire or whatever they're rollin'...
Anyways, sad thing to see a beauty like that wrecked, I hope you can get a hold of another 99GSX... and find a new route to work ;)

heres some more before pictures of the car... IT WAS SO CLEAN! :beatentodeath:

I know this thread is long... but it's well worth the read. If you do, you'll learn this is really only a mod for 2g heads.

Sorry bout the bad news Dan... hope it doesn't take you too long to find another one.

BTW... What are the odds I could grab that coil pack off of you? Sorry, that was probably a little too soon.

News today from USAA is that IF they call it totalled, they will let me remove all my mods before she goes to te big junkyard in the sky.
I would love to buy it back if it does get totalled, but I have nowhere I could store it and work on it. I would have to let her go.

You guys want to hear the REAL kicker to this whole story??
I paid this car off 3 weeks ago... and I sold my 66 chevelle to do it.
:barf:

Awful news man, sorry for your loss. I'd hate it if I loss my 99 GSX :(

What good news from USAA! I have them as well for insurance and when I totalled my 95 AWD they didn't let me take my mods and made me buy it back to do so. Sucked, but I sold enough from the carnage to recoup those costs and of course saved the majority of my mods to transfer to the 99 GSX I bought months later.

Man that sucks, I felt terrible when i blew my motor but to actually wreck the car man that sucks. Like everyone above i would buy it back and part it out
