Ok my friend has a 99 GST with 80K Miles He has the following upgrades...

intake pipe
hard ic pipes
3inch down pipe
3 inch cat back
to a 5 inch magnaflow muffler
XTD Clutch
and a boost gauge

Between 4k and 6k his car like cuts out what could be causing this? Is this fuel cut or something else? The car doesn't sputter and it like cuts when under heavy acceleration... hes running 12 pounds.

Anyone??

are you sure the car is hitting fuel cut or is the car stuttering when its around 4k to 6k? How much boost is he running?

A boost leak is usually constant, but at higher rpms, you're getting more airflow. At a certain airflow point, the ECU will engage fuel cut.

So, the most common cause for fuel cut is a boost leak. Since it's obvious he's messed around with the intake and intercooler pipe system, it's almost mandatory to perform a boost leak after doing those modifications. Don't just say "Oh, the clamps are tight, so there aren't any leaks." We've heard that one before. And it was wrong. :) Do a proper boost leak test with a proper boost leak tester and report back the results.
