okay so i got this spyder as a part trade. guy said it has a bad shift solenoid. its an auto btw. when i put it in any drive gear nothing happens (it won't turn the wheels). the transmission clicks for 5 seconds, stops, then starts clicking again and doesn't stop. i've determined that the clicking is coming from inside the tranny and is something electrical. i don't know what the connector does but i took a picture of it (the one the light is shining on). basically what i've determined is when i turn the car to on and shift into gear it clicks. if i shift into neutral, unplug it, plug it back in and shift then it stops clicking. but if i turn the car off and back on it starts all over. i'd really like to be out enjoying the sun instead of sitting in my driveway. hopefully someone can help.

NOTE: it's the connection on the tranny not the one for the maf.

your not supposed to bump i got a week ban for that just a heads up. i would have to say call a local repair shop and have them come and a take a look for a better estimate but i would say it sounds like your tranny isnt doing what its supposed to the gears arent going in place or the connection is toast and the tranny doesnt know what to do. personally i would just do a 5 speed swap on it now it will probably be cheaper than fixing the transmission just my .2 cents

I'm not familiar with automatics but I suggest you pinpoint exactly where the clicking is coming from whether it's a solenoid or something else. You said it's from inside the tranny but make sure. My best educated guess would be a bad TCM (Transmission Control Module). It may be operating incorrectly sending a signal that causes the suspected solenoid to trip. Do a search and research TCM related problems. The obivous worst case scenario is that the tranny is bad. Hopefully you find something useful. Good luck.
