98 Spyder GS Bangs at 5k?

my 98 GS Spyder makes a weird sound when i have it at WOT, it sounds like a rev limiter sort of. Bugs the hell out of me. have a custom fab'd CAI and a 2.5" stright pipe catback with a glasspack.. thats pretty much it for performance mods. any help?

First start with the basics, check your spark plugs to see if any of them is bad, and also check the calibration. When was the last time that you have taken your injectors to service?

When was the last time you have changed the gas filter?
Is your Air filter clean enough?

That's a good place to start, this things happens mostly when you have bad or wrong calibrated spark plugs, but if this is not the case you can check my other suggestions and let's see what we get.

mine did something similar to what you are describing once. I took it to the car wash and sprayed it all out under the hood. a tiny bit of water had gotten up into where my plugs were (went by the wired seals) and it cause it to make a weird noise but it also sputtered a bit and it only did it during wot

reviving dead thread: update: the alternator went to shit, replaced it and has been fine ever since.
