Tried flashing my 98 GSX last night with Ceddymods and now my car wont start. I was in a middle of a flash, and a dialogue box came up saying that it cant flash. Now, all the sensors and MPI relay are clicking like crazy when I turn the key to the ON position.

I know that I have the right chipset in the ECU that is flashable, also using OP 2.0 Cable, and the flash connector is plugged in. And im pretty sure that I have all the definitions I need in the right folder. These are the Roms and Def's I have:

98 Eclipse GSX – EM2056

ROM -> 20560008
DEF -> 20560008 <-Updated 7/17/09

ROM -> 20560010
DEF -> 20560010 <-Updated 7/17/09

Anybody have an idea whats going on!?

Here's the log file from when it happened:

Did you tried to test write first? Did you download the rom in the ECU before you flashed the ECU? Have you attempted to flash it again? If you flash it again and it comes up with the same problem something may be wrong with your ECU or you bricked it.

I did save the stock "unknown" rom. I tried reflashing it with the stock rom, and it does the same thing. I spent about 3 hours yesterday just to try to get it to flash.

It looks like you tried to flash ROM with the wrong XML. It happened to me a couple of times. I never got mine to work afterward. I still have them on the shelf.

I am not saying its bricked but I never got mine recovered.

I did this to mine by trying to flash the speed density XML with a Maf ROM. Took me and my friend 3 ECUs to figure out what we were doing wrong.

Ecu unlocker should fix it. I can't remember the site its on but it'll unlock your ecu again

Make sure you try to flash the right stuff on there. I just recently flashed my ecu (98 GSX) with ecuflash and ceddymods and it works great. I just saved the 98 def and rom from his site, but i flashed the free version of his ceddymods download file. Those files from his download section are what you should be flashing. Good luck.

I have ECU Unlocker but im not sure if im using it correctly. I open ECU Unlocker then open ECUflash, and then read from ECU.

Is this the correct way to use it?

Im about 99% sure that im flashing the right stuff. Which rom and def did you use?

The thing i did was download the 98 gsx rom and def (cant remember whether it was the xxxxxx8 or the xxxxx10, i did try to download both) but i did NOT flash that stuff onto my ecu. I read my stock tune, saved it, then downloaded the ceddymods free version off his website and flashed that onto my car after making a few changes. It worked perfectly, but be careful with the cords on that 2.0 cable, they are very brittle.

I realize you guys are hot on the trail and all, but this really stood out to me:

If that is exclusively true, it could be why you ended up here in the first place.

Found out the problem, my OP cable had a cut in it for whatever reason :(

But at the shop I work at, we had another ECU up there :)
