I finally completed a few months ago my performance and painting upgrade project on my '98 Eclipse GST. I'm the original owner and finally after many years had the means to do what I had always wanted to the car.

Started with a repaint. The original OEM white color was called Northstar White (paint code W12). I repainted it in Mistubishi's Wicked White a/k/a Innsbruck White (paint code W37) which is the color used on '08 and '09 Evos. It is a brighter whiter white. Although it was an exterior paint job only (not the inside doorjambs or engine bay), the shop did it right and took off ALL of the lights etc before painting. They also put on a new hood at the time so the underside of that was painted in the new white as well.

I then did about all the bolt on mods you can do to an Eclipse short of internal work. 107K miles. She still has great compression and no meaningful oil burn so until the engine dies and needs a rebuild its done. Much but not all of of this project was done by a local shop here in Miami called HP Motoring. I'd also like to give a big thanks to JeffGST from the DSMLINK forums for ALOT of help to me tuning the DSMLINK.

Mods:

4G63T 2.0 engine with stock head and bottom end, DSMLINK, AEM Uego, Forced Performance 18G turbo, FP racing cast exhaust manifold, EVO III o2 sensor housing, direct wired Walbro 255, FIC 950cc injectors, Injen air intake, stock MAS, Greddy Big 24 FMIC, Greddy RS BOV, Hallman MBC, Aeromotive FPR, custom 3" downpipe, cat delete, Greddy EVO2 3" exhaust, Quaife LSD, ACT 2600, ACT Streetlight flywheel, ACT street disc, Fluidyne Radiator w 2 12" puller fans & 2 10" pusher fans in front of A/C condenser, 170 degree STANT thermostat (P/N 14077), Baer Claw track front brakes w 13" rotors, dual piston calipers, rear powerslots OEM sized rotors and OEM rotors, 18" Excel rims, 225/40 Nexxen 5000 tires, Eibach springs, Tokico illumina shocks, Prothane front/rear mount inserts.

Below is an engine bay pic - she looks not all that special. I don't have alot of eye catching stuff and the SST heat shield obscures the manifold and turbo. Sprucing up the engine bay cosmetically is next on my to-do list.
Edit 01/28/09: Finally cleaned up the engine bay. Including put on my JNZ tuning supplied powder coated valve cover, Optima Red Top battery, high output 150 amp Alterstart alternator:

A clear upper timing belt cover is on its way from zaklee in a few days.

For some reason I guess this dsmtuners site automatically resizes all my pics alot smaller than how I have them hosted at photobucket.... Here is a link to my thread at the DSMTalk boards with these same pics as here but at 1024 X 768 size: Solved a temp creep issue after FMIC install + pics of my ride - DSM Forums: Mitsubishi Eclipse, Plymouth Laser, and Eagle Talon Forum: DSMtalk.com

Dsmj89 - every so often I go to the informal gatherings of modded cars on Monday nights starting around 9:30PM. People go to Bird Road & SW 107 Ave where the Pizza Hut is and/or the parking lot next to Shorty's at Bird Road and approx SW 116 Avenue. I probably won't go again until mid January due to the holidays. Most of the people are in their 20s, some late teens and a handlful over 30. I'm 44 and feel a bit out of place with that crowd but the car turns heads. There are ALOT of Hondas, SRTs, etc but there are a handful of DSMs.

I'm not sure what my numbers would be . I guess pretty quick but nothing atomic as I'm boosting only about to 18 PSI and am FWD. When HP motoring did the initial work with a modest but not perfect tune and the cat still in place they dynoed it at 289 WHP. Since then I took off the cat and tuned it alot more with JeffGST's help with logs and on the phone. I haven't dynoed it again since then but the cat and tuning definitely "felt" faster. I guestimate it should be somewhere 20-25 WHP more so maybe around 310ish????

I'm hoping to go to a track and run a 1/4. I'm 2WD though and even with the quaife (which made a HUGE difference BTW) I easily get wheel spin from a dead stop and have little real practice launching hard that way. Yes, I'm too wimpy and have never really spanked the car from a dead stop as I worry about the wear and tear on all the drivetrain components.

From a roll however she seems real quick. I never road race "for real" - I'm just not gonna kill myself as I have a wife, a 3 year old and a 6 month old and more importantly won't put other people's lives in jeapardy street racing.

That is a realy nice looking car congradulations on keeping it simple and clean!
