97 gst spider tyranny is being rebuilt. Was told Core would be needed.Now says it needs flashing. Does this sounds normal. He's had car 2 months.

Your question isn't clear? Are you asking about a trans or an ecu? You need to provide more information and possibly start your own thread.

2g dsm manual transmissions do not have computers, so no flashing. Automatics do have a transmission computer but no capability to flash. Only the ecu can be flashed on the 2g, and not even all of thise.

Your question is not very clear, but from what I’m getting is you had your automatic transmission rebuilt and the guy says the TCU needs flashed now or is going to need flashed. If that’s the case and he got the rebuild done and it’s not shifting he either got something electronic wrong or something internally wrong and thinks it requires flashing. If he hasn’t started yet and thinks the TCU needs flashed I’d advise picking it up and taking it elsewhere with a better understanding of it as someone else mentioned most aren’t flashable and it’s definitely not required for a rebuild or transmission replacement. If this is a manual we’re talking then he really shouldn’t be working on it and I’d be concerned as the parts aren’t available to do a full rebuild on a manual.
