Hey guys. New member here from WV...

I just bought a 97 gst, and the car had been sitting for a few years and wasn't running. Luckily the fuel tank was almost dry when I got it so I was able to put some fresh gas and fuel system cleaner in it. Put all new fluids in it. Bought a new battery. Got it to fire up. It's running really rough and at about 400 rpms. It's reeking of fuel and is puffing out white smoke, sometimes a little black smoke...

Anyway, I was able to pull these codes. I'm in the process of digging a little deeper with it, but any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

No not yet. I borrowed the scanner from work over the weekend, but I can bring it home again tomorrow.

Does this mean the map sensor is bad also? And are all those sensors on the same harness? Any chance a critter chewed on some wires while it was sitting for so long? Previous owner said it was running alright before it was parked, but who knows if that's the case or not.

I pulled the maf and inspected it. I need to get some maf cleaner tomorrow and clean it up good, though it didn't look bad. All the honeycombs were solid with no cracks or anything. Also but some di-electric grease on the connectors for the map and maf sensors...

We don't have map sensors it's called a Mdp sensor (manifold differentail pressure). Can't really tell if a sensor is bad just by looks. It's very possible somthing chewed up wires. If it keeps throwing the codes it's probably bad.

Right on. I work at a parts store and I can get a reman maf for about $100, new are $350!!! If that doesn't fix it, I can always return it. Will go ahead and pick up a new temp sensor while I'm at it. Thanks for the input!

Do not use maf cleaner either. We do not have the style of maf where that applies.

check for rodent infestation, and check all wiring harness. turbo cars have a tendency to make the electrical wires brittle and break.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I actually haven't had much time to mess with it (work and gf LOL), but I will be working on it this weekend. Also, when I pulled the codes, nothing was unplugged. I went ahead and had all four sensors ordered in so I can trial and error and see if any of them are actually bad. I've checked a lot of the vacuum lines as well and they all look to be in good shape. On a side note, there were a bunch of wasps nests under the hood when I brought the car home, so it's possible they've nested in places I can't see. Just gonna have to start digging through everything and see what kind of damage (if any) there is to the wiring etc...

That isn't how that works. the maf can be plugged in when you checked the code. if the code is already set plugging it in doesn't change that. if the car was ever run with it unplugged it will set and retain that code until reset.
