I am having an intermitent problem with my 97 gst spyder. Some times it runs fine. Other time when I start it, it has a terrible miss. I wont rev past about 1800 rpms and has no power. I can let it run a bit and its fine. or sometimes I just give up and let it sit for awhile. Before you flame me, it's only happened a few times so far and it's very cold here right now, so I haven't start trouble shooting it myself yet. I just started carrying a timing light in the car to see if im getting spark to all cylinders when it acts up. I think it might be a bad coil pack. Does it sound like im looing in the right direction. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think its an injector problem. When I get the miss I can smell fuel in the exhaust and have some black smoke. Also, Info or a link on checking the ignition system would be a great help.

Thank you in advance for your prompt reply

well are ## sparks plug wire new maybe u need new one. well i have a spyder 2 and sometimes in the morning my car would feel like it doesn't have power it has boost but no power. it's only done it 4 time it's weird i don't know if it would be similar but it worry me.

No one is going to flame you for a legitimate question I would think.

If you have a hard miss, and it's not doing it all the time, maybe the coil pack.
Check the plug wires from the plug in boot all the way to the plug. If you see a little white splotch with a little black speck in it, that is a burn through and can be a very nasty problem as the fire is not jumping the plug but jumping to the head through the wire.

Could also be intermittent injector miss. Very few injectors do that, but you never know. If you can catch it missing, listen to the injectors with a long screwdriver held to your ear and the other end to the injector. You should hear a sharp, almost ringing type of click. If it's dull or muted, I would highly suspicion that injector. Sharp click good, dull click or no sound is bad.

Check these and if I think of anything else, I'll let you know.

Good Luck
