Hey guys check this out when i am driving like 40mph at about 3500rpm when I floor it the factory boost meter shoots up an the motor kind rocks/shakes so i have to graduley floor it to avoid this .....what is the problem i disconnected the battery to reset the ecu because i recently repalce intake air box with a injen filter and adapter....it started happening after the install any ideas ?

:dsm: for life

Check for leaks after the mass air flow sensor and check and make sure you hooked the mass air flow sensor back up.

Okay the mas sensor is on tight and right :thumb: so you think it's a air leak would that cause the boost gauge to shoot up ? as for the motor shaking and rocking when i floor it is that the motor telling me it's not getting enough air?

thanks for the relpy :thumb:

Based on your profile, I'm assuming your car is stock+injen intake. So, you must have a leak. Check with the fitment between the MAF and the pipe, and the pipe and the turbo. Another issue would be fuel cut, but unless you have a modified exhaust, boost controller, etc. it's hard to tell.

Also, whenever I install a new product/part/mod whatever, I reflect those changes in my vehicle profile so that others can help me when I ask. It sounds like you just have an Injen, but it is impossible to know if you don't have your profile filled out. The simplest things do count. :thumb:

When was the last time you changed your plugs & wires? What plugs are you using? Have you changed your fuel filter? Cleaned you throttle body? or used some fuel injection cleaner (like Redline Fuel System Cleaner, etc.)?

Did you mess with any of your vacuum lines? Sounds like your wastegate isn't seeing any pressure and is just staying shut. Most likely a boost leak. Pay no attention to the stock boost gauge. It is there simply for entertainment.

Yes i changed the plugs out with Denso's Iridium plug and used STP fuel system cleaner...haven't changed fuel filter or cleaned throttle body :coy:

Wow. Order some NGK BPR6ES plugs and gap them @ .028, then post back here with the results. They'll cost you ~$1/plug.

No i did'nt touch the vacuum line just the injen filter install with the adapter ...So when you say Boost leak you mean there is a hose from the turbo to the intake manifold that is leaking .....well see i went to the dealer had same problem but much worse they told me it was the upper intercooler house was leaking from a rip so they cut the hose to elimante the rip but maybe they cut to much and not enough of the pipe is inside the house they said it would need to be repalced but it worked fined when i drove it out only after the install of the injen filter did it start showing the previous symptoms. Could the injen filter sucked in more air than the stock filter that it might have shifted the hose?

Bingo. More air=more noticing effects with leaks. Oh, plus the spark plugs. :thumb: Now is a good time to upgrade that rubber hose with a hard pipe. www.dejonpowerhouse.com offer nice upper IC pipes for a great price.

I had that problem with my '91 Laser RS turbo and all i did was replace the spark plugs with NGK BPR6ES and pick up some 9.3 mm spark plug wires off ebay for 40 bucks and that solved my problem. :thumb:

will these do

V-Power NGK R

Advanced V-groove center electrode provides optimum performance and fuel efficiency required by today's lean-burning engines.

OEM-Approved Design
V-Groove Design Enhances Ignitability
More Complete Combustion and Lower Emissions
Racer's Choice for Performance

Modern lean-burning, fuel efficient engines create a new set of requirements for spark plugs. NGK Spark Plugs answered the call for a spark plug with lower sparking voltage requirements by developing the V-Power, the only spark plug with a v-groove center electrode on the market today. Why is this important? The v-groove center electrode on a V-Power spark plug forces the spark to the outer edge of the ground electrode, placing it closer to the air/fuel mixture. What this does is allow the spark to more quickly ignite the mixture, providing more complete combustion.

More complete combustion not only provides more power, it also means less harmful emissions. These emissions are not only damaging to the environment, they can reduce the life of expensive catalytic converters and oxygen sensors. V-Power Spark Plugs also require lower ignition firing voltage, resulting in quicker starts and easier cold weather starts throughout the life of the plugs.

NGK V-Power Spark Plugs also are ideally suited for race cars and high performance street cars. Today's performance engines are high compression/high stress applications. Many are supercharged, turbo-charged or nitrous oxide fed.

NGK's patented v-groove design allows the ignition system to easily spark in these dense air/fuel mixtures. The flame kernel will quickly grow and allow the engine to potentially make more power since it now is operating more efficiently.

As an added bonus, the v-groove forcing the spark to the outer edge of the ground electrode helps reduce the "quenching" effect, reducing misfires caused by high cylinder pressures "blowing out" the spark.

BPR6ES, no question. Order them if you have to, don't settle for anything else. An ad from NGK will always sound nice but that ad wasn't written for a DSM.

The Intercooler outlet that connects to your upper IC hose has a silicone coupler and that has blown.
I used a piece of rad hose stretched in on the IC outlet, and reattached the plastic garbage Mitsu calls an upper IC pipe.

You don't want performance plugs on this car. They will just get fouled quickly or cause many problems and headaches. Don't even consider buying anything else until you've done enough research on your vehicle and know what it will take to go to 7's.

i guess when it comes to spark plugs more expensive doesn't mean better performing good to know :thumb:

Just a heads up, but if you replace your upper IC pipes, you'll also need a new BOV.... The stock pos BOV will not mount to anything other than stock IC hoses.

I did an Extreme PSI intake kit, Greddy Upper/Lower IC pipes and a Types S BOV, and let me tell you my car sounded fuggin awesome.
You could hear the turbo inhaling air by the shit ton, and the BOV releasing air back into the aluminum intake.
The BOV sound is really loud, like something out of a video game and I'm recirculating.

There's no need for adjusting that damn screw on top of the BOV, just use an Allen wrench and a 10mm wrench I believe and hold the Allen still while you tighten the nut.
One of the best pair of mods I've done except for the new 3" O2 Housing back exhaust.
My cars pulls hard as hell, and went from 11.5 psi to 14psi steady....
Keep in mind, you'll want to build one of these to do a boost leak test after you're done installing your new goodies. Boost Leak Tester

It's that loud really and your recirulating to okay that's cool that was the same setup i was gonna do i wanted the type S but my buddy keeps telling me to get the type RS i think he doesn't want me to have the same one as him damn Honduh guys

I think with the Type RS you have to buy a recirculating kit too, which = more $.
Install your BOV onto your upper IC pipes before you install your IC pipes on your car.
Just do it in the correct orientation, it's pretty straight forward.
The fuse box is in the way and it will be an extreme pain in the ass to tighten the screws of the BOV after you've installed your upper pipe.
If you choose to install the BOV after you've installed your IC pipes, chances are you won't be able to get the screws tight enough and you will eventually develop a boost leak at the gasket.
Just my $.02....
