My son was driving down the interstate yesterday in a 97 eclipse 420a NT, MT (no mods) when it overheated. It started to overheat but the temp guage did not register( so he says) ANYWAYS!!!!! He said he was running at about 3G when it cut out for a second and came back, then died.... When i arrived on the scene (45 minutes later) motor was still hot as hell so i'm almost positive it warped the head but thats a different topic. I let the engine cool and tried to start it. NO SUCCESS.
Towed it home and put a OBD tester on it (No Codes). Checked the spark (no spark). Checked fuel and it is there. Swapped the coil with another DSM in the driveway but no luck. Changed the Cam sensor, still no spark. Checked the timing and it looks good. I have about 5 volts to the cam sensor and i think that is what i should have. Someone told me to check the injectors and everything seemed to check out.
I am at a loss
PLEASE HELP ME BE A HERO TO MY SON
and give me a run down of the possibilities. I've been working on cars my whole life but these new electrical systems still give me trouble.
Thanks for the help
