2G 97 eagle talon tsi - hard to start

Hello, the car has been doing this since I got it.
It has a hard time starting but once it’s started it’s fine, if I turn it off then right back on it starts right up. Sometimes it’s starts then dies a couple times. I changed spark plugs, plug wires, battery. No clue what else it could be, I checked grounds, wires, etc. please help

One possibility may be the fuel pressure (FP) is not being maintained when engine is off (eg. leaky FP regulator). It should stay for days.

coolant temp sensor functioning? i know its a problem for 1gs, could be for 2gs also but could be wrong

How do I check this?. One thing I can say is when I go to get gas, I can hear air coming out of the tank when I go to take the gas cap out

Black box. Actually just went to it to see if that was the problem.

are you using evoscan on it? or just a generic code reader?

Actually air is going into the tank which is normal.

Low fuel pressure can be due to a leaky fuel pressure regulator (FPR) or bad fuel pump (eg. leaky check valve or it's not making enough pressure or just leaks back into tank when off) or another fuel leak somewhere.

One sure sign a FPR is bad is if fuel comes out its vacuum line when you unplug it. Check this. On the turbo the FPR is at the drivers end of the fuel rail. The FPR is so cheap you might want to just replace it anyway in case it's not fully functional.

Next on the list is checking fuel pressure to see if it drops when engine is turned off. Most test on the fuel filter banjo bolt with the B&M 46054 Fuel Pressure Gauge Set.

When the car is started my fp is 45psi-50psi I bought the car this way has a stock fuel system besides a walbro pump not sure on size of pump

No it drops and goes to zero I do believe

I have a 1080whp 05 sti. It’s getting refreshed rn at iag. The talon is my daily

Okay. So it could be leaking off? Or

Then that's your problem. It should never do that. First check if you have a leaky FPR.

It’s at zero rn and just drove it yesterday
